[Edaily Reporter Kim Seung-kwon ] Lunit Inc.(328130)is providing analysis using Lunit Inc.’s biomarker platform, “Lunit Scope,” to a global pharmaceutical company to support the development of next-generation drugs.
Lunit Inc. announced on the 12th that it has established a strategic partnership with Discovery Life Sciences (hereinafter “Discovery”), a U.S.-based company specializing in biological samples and precision medicine.
The core of this collaboration is to combine Discovery’s bioanalytical capabilities with Lunit Inc.’s AI-powered pathology analysis technology to provide standardized tissue-related data to global pharmaceutical companies.
Headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama, Discovery is a leading global provider of bioanalytical services. To date, it has provided services for over 2,000 clinical trial programs and is currently supporting more than 350. It is distinguished by its integrated testing system that covers all stages of new drug development, from specimen procurement to molecular pathology, genomics, and proteomics analysis.
Through this partnership, Discovery will utilize Lunit Inc.’s “Lunit Scope” for biomarker and tissue analysis commissioned by global pharmaceutical companies. The two companies plan to optimize and provide AI-powered pathology analysis tailored to client needs. Furthermore, they will expand the application of AI-based tissue analysis services throughout the new drug development process.
Additionally, Lunit Inc. will participate in the “B4 Tour (Bridging Biomarker Breakthroughs to Bedsides)” event hosted by Discovery on the 14th (local time) in South San Francisco, USA. The event will serve as an opportunity to directly introduce the Lunit Scope solution to representatives and researchers from leading global pharmaceutical companies that have collaborated with Discovery. During the event, Lim Yu-ju, Medical Director at Lunit Inc., will deliver a presentation during an expert session and participate in a panel discussion on the topic “The Present and Future of AI Biomarkers.”
Seo Beom-seok, CEO of Lunit Inc., stated, “As demand grows for the discovery of quantitative and reproducible biomarkers to guide new drug development, AI-powered pathology analysis has become an essential element.”
He added, “Through our collaboration with Discovery, a leader in the field of bioassays, more global companies and researchers can now utilize Lunit Inc. Scope to advance drug development.”
Anna Juncker-Jensen, Vice President of Scientific Affairs at Discovery, noted, “The success of AI-driven pathology analysis ultimately depends on the consistency of tissue samples and the processing procedures.”
She continued, “Since Discovery performs every step—from specimen acquisition to tissue processing and pathological analysis—in-house at our own laboratories, we will apply Lunit Inc. Scope to reliably prepared specimens to provide our partners with data they can trust.”
