[Edaily Reporter Han Kwangbeom ] NVIDIA will invest and provide support totaling $1 billion over the next five years in key U.S. science and technology fields, including quantum computing, healthcare, and energy security. The company will expand its participation in “Genesis Mission,” a U.S. government science and technology project, and strengthen its collaboration with national laboratories.
NVIDIA announced this investment plan on the 12th at the “Science: A New Golden Age” summit held in Washington, D.C. The event was attended by U.S. government officials, industry leaders, and scientists, who discussed public-private partnership strategies to advance scientific research.
NVIDIA plans to support research and development of super-intelligent technologies in the fields of science and quantum computing across the United States over the next five years. In addition to supporting U.S. higher education and research institutions and expanding investment in quantum computing, the company will also support cloud service providers that underpin key U.S. government research missions.
The company will also participate as a partner in projects selected for Phase 2 of the Genesis Mission. It plans to expand R&D collaboration across various projects, including quantum computing, nuclear fusion, accelerator design, and microelectronics.
NVIDIA has been collaborating with U.S. national laboratories for over 20 years. Last year, it announced a Genesis Mission partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and spearheaded a project to build a large-scale supercomputer for scientific research at Argonne National Laboratory.
It is also supporting the construction of a total of seven new systems at Argonne National Laboratory and Los Alamos National Laboratory. NVIDIA plans to use this investment as an opportunity to expand its collaboration with the U.S. government and research institutions on AI and computing infrastructure.
Jensen Huang, NVIDIA’s founder and CEO, stated, “President Trump’s Genesis Mission is ushering in a new golden age of scientific discovery in the United States,” adding, “Through this $1 billion investment, NVIDIA plans to support U.S. scientists in leveraging cutting-edge superintelligence technologies and accelerate breakthroughs in healthcare, energy, and materials.” He added, “Through this, the U.S. can transform scientific leadership into industrial leadership and turn innovation into jobs and opportunities for future generations.”
