[Edaily Reporter SHIN MIN JOON ] CU, a convenience store chain operated by BGF Retail(282330), is launching a unique marketing campaign by introducing “Duo”-themed triangular rice balls to coincide with pre-orders for the iPhone Duo—believed to be Apple’s first foldable iPhone.

According to the convenience store industry on the 12th, CU will begin offering the “Duo Tuna Mayo Triangular Rice Balls” starting on the 13th of this month. The “Duo Tuna Mayo” is a product designed to coincide with the iPhone Duo pre-order period; it features two of CU’s best-selling tuna mayo triangular rice balls bundled together. This marks the first time CU has bundled two onigiri of the same flavor into a single product.

CU applied the “Duo” concept of the iPhone Duo to this two-pack of rice balls, adding a playful twist to both the product name and its composition. The “Duo Tuna Mayo” is available for 2,200 won—the price of two regular Tuna Mayo rice balls. At 200 won cheaper than buying them individually, it allows customers to enjoy this popular item at a more reasonable price.

CU plans to continue providing customers with new shopping experiences through “FUN” marketing, which combines popular products with entertaining concepts.

Meanwhile, the iPhone Duo will be officially released on the 23rd. In the U.S., the starting price for the 256GB model is $1,999 (approximately 2.66 million won). In South Korea, it will be sold for around 3.2 million won.
