Mitra Darab, CEO of HYBE·Geffen Records, made these remarks regarding the factors behind the success of the multinational girl group Cat’s Eye in a written interview with E-Daily on the 14th.

Cats Eye debuted in 2024 through HYBE·Geffen Records, a joint venture established by HYBE and the U.S.-based Geffen Records. The group consists of six members with diverse nationalities and cultural backgrounds: Manon (Switzerland/Italy), Sofia (Philippines/U.S.), Daniela (U.S.), Lara (U.S.), Megan (U.S.), and Yoonchae (South Korea).

Cat’s Eye has expanded its presence by achieving successive successes in the U.S. music market, and its growth has accelerated even further this year. With their third mini-album “WILD,” released last August, they achieved their first No. 1 on the Billboard “200,” the main album chart. “Animal,” one of the album’s title tracks, has been charting for 10 consecutive weeks on the main singles chart, the “Hot 100,” demonstrating its staying power.

CEO Darab stated, “Reaching the top of the Billboard 200 just two years after their debut is a remarkable achievement,” adding, “The fact that they achieved the No. 1 spot based on high physical album sales in the streaming-dominated U.S. market clearly demonstrates Cat’s Eye’s growth.”

Cat’s Eye is a group developed based on the so-called “K-pop methodology,” which encompasses HYBE’s artist development system—the same one that nurtured BTS—as well as its approaches to music and content production and fandom management.

CEO Darab explained, “This success stemmed not only from K-pop’s signature choreography, music videos, and short- and long-form content production methods, but also from effectively prioritizing fans and actively engaging with them.”

CEO Darab is a veteran music industry executive with over 25 years of experience. He has overseen projects for various pop stars, including Madonna and Katy Perry, at major local record labels such as Warner Bros. Records and Capitol Music Group.

He cited the members’ authenticity, competitive performance skills, and broad musical spectrum as Cat’s Eye’s strengths. Regarding future goals, he stated, “I want to grow Cat’s Eye’s global tours to stadium-scale events,” adding, “I also dream of producing a movie starring the members.” He added, “Please look forward to the continued expansion of Cat’s Eye’s brand intellectual property (IP).”
