On the 14th, the production team of TVING’s “Palace Land” announced Cha Jun-hwan’s casting. Other cast members include Woo Da-bi, Lee Jae-won, Kim Kyu-won, Kim Seung-ho, Min Seo, Nancy, Lee Nam-soo, Ahn Ju-mi, and Park So-jin.
Set to premiere in 2027, TVING’s first original sitcom, “Palace Land,” depicts the chaotic yet heartwarming survival story of part-time amusement park workers who endure the madness behind the scenes of a fantastical world that looks like a palace on the outside but is a shambles on the inside. The clash between the glamorous fantasy of the amusement park and the harsh reality of the part-time workers who keep it running is set to deliver both hearty laughter and relatable moments.
Cha Jun-hwan, who debuted as a child actor and gained widespread popularity, returns to drama after a long hiatus, taking on the role of Seong Dae-han, a new cast member in “Palace Land.” Anticipation is high to see what kind of fun the enthusiastic newcomer’s bumpy journey of adaptation will bring. The role of Song Ye-jin will be played by Woo Da-bi, who proved her solid acting skills and popularity by winning the Best New Actress Award for her role in the SBS drama *Don’t Kiss for No Reason!*. Attention is also focused on the chemistry between the two as they interact as a newcomer and a senior employee. Lee Jae-won, who has made his mark with his laid-back comedic performances, joins the cast as Kang Cheol-su, adding vitality to the drama.
Kim Gyu-won, a rising star in variety shows who won the Best Newcomer Award at the Blue Dragon Series Awards, joins the cast as Yang Seong-wook, while rising newcomer Kim Seung-ho joins as Kwak Do-hyun, promising fresh performances. Singer Minseo takes on the role of Han Ah-reum, and Nancy is set to showcase a new side of herself as Ji Seul-gi.
Other new faces set to boost the laughter quotient at Gungjeon Land are also drawing attention. Video creator Lee Nam-soo, known for his good looks, will inject energy into the show as Kwon Su-nam. Ahn Ju-mi, who made a strong impression as a Gen Z employee in [a previous show], will showcase a unique acting transformation as Seo Go-un, the youngest member of Palace Land. Additionally, Park So-jin, beloved for her realistic performances, joins the cast as Yoon Young-hee, adding to the show’s entertainment value.
Meanwhile, Cha Jun-hwan announced on his social media on the 12th, “After much deliberation, I have decided not to continue my activities as a national team member or compete in tournaments this season.” He added, “I have also concluded my contract with the Seoul Metropolitan Government after thorough discussions with the city,” and stated, “I sincerely thank the Seoul Metropolitan Government and its officials for believing in me and providing their generous support all this time.” Regarding his future plans, he said, “I intend to do my best in the tasks entrusted to me while carefully considering the direction I will take moving forward.”
