[Edaily Reporter Shin Yeong-bin ] SamsungElectronics(005930)has enhanced the sleep and running coaching features of its health management app, “Samsung Health.” The company has reduced the data collection period required to start sleep coaching from 7 days to 3 days and introduced a new “Sleep Balance” feature that displays sleep status using five metrics.

SamsungElectronics announced on the 14th that it is expanding its personalized health coaching features through an update to the Samsung Health app.

Samsung Health is a platform that tracks daily health data—such as exercise, sleep, and diet—and manages health information like blood pressure and ECG in conjunction with the Galaxy Watch.

In this update, the minimum data requirement to start sleep coaching has been relaxed from 7 days within a month to 3 days within the last 2 weeks. This lowers the barrier to entry, allowing users to begin personalized coaching even with limited sleep data.

When users begin sleep coaching, they complete a questionnaire to assess their usual sleep regularity, whether they wake up during the night, alcohol and caffeine intake, and their subjective sleep score. Combining this with three days of sleep data, the platform provides a personalized coaching program lasting 4 to 8 weeks for each user.

Each week, the app suggests new habits tailored to the user’s sleep patterns. It provides a checklist of practical daily actions, such as reducing smartphone use one hour before bedtime, avoiding caffeine six hours before bedtime, and doing outdoor stretching after waking up.

A new “Sleep Balance” graph has also been added. It allows users to view five metrics—actual sleep duration, sleep regularity, time spent awake during sleep, sleep satisfaction, and energy score—all on a single screen. Long-term changes can also be tracked through daily sleep insights and weekly and final reports.

The Running Coach feature has also been revamped. The training levels have been expanded from 10 to 12, adding advanced programs for experienced runners.

The feature that allows users to convert running data recorded in Samsung Health into templates optimized for social media platforms has also been enhanced.

Park Heon-soo, Team Leader of the Digital Health Team at SamsungElectronics’ MX Business Division, said, “Personalized coaching that helps users fully understand their health data is the first step toward driving healthy changes in daily life,” adding, “Based on the Galaxy ecosystem and digital health technology, we will develop Samsung Health into a trusted health platform.”
