[Edaily Reporter Kim Hyung-il ] L&C Bio ( L&C BIO(290650)) announced on the 16th that it introduced “Re2O,” a product based on human skin extracellular matrix (ECM), at a plastic surgery academic conference and shared its potential applications in clinical practice.

L&C BIO participated in the “33rd Fall Academic Conference of the Korean Society of Plastic Surgeons,” held on the 11th at the Plenty Convention Center at Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital. The conference brought together 700 plastic surgeons and approximately 40 companies to share various surgical techniques and clinical experiences.

Through academic exchanges with medical professionals, L&C BIO highlighted the characteristics of the skin’s ECM and introduced application methods that can be considered in conjunction with existing plastic surgery procedures.

During the luncheon session, Dr. Bae Jae-hyun, Director of iLumi Plastic Surgery, delivered a presentation titled “Synergistic Effects of Autologous Fat Grafting and Litou.” He introduced an approach that combines the two materials based on the distinct characteristics of autologous fat and skin ECM, and explored their potential for combined use in plastic surgery practice.

Lituo is a product made by processing human acellular dermal matrix (hADM)—derived from human dermis with cellular components removed—into microparticles. It is based on ECM components that support the skin, such as collagen and elastin; it is important to understand the material’s characteristics, application sites, and methods of use together.

Skin ECM-based acellular dermis is not a newly emerged material but a biomaterial that has been used in surgical fields—such as burn treatment and reconstructive surgery—for approximately 30 years. Clinical applications have been reported since the 1990s, and since then, a wealth of experience and research on various surgical applications has been accumulated. L&C BIO explained that this experience and research form the foundation for understanding the characteristics and potential applications of microparticle-type skin ECM.

L&C BIO stated that its approach—which focuses on the structural framework and tissue environment that support the skin—aligns with the “Longevity” discourse aimed at maintaining long-term skin health. The company plans to use this academic conference as an opportunity to continue engaging with medical professionals and deepen their understanding of the potential applications of skin ECM and the specific conditions for each product.

Lee Hyun-seung, Head of L&C BIO, said, “Skin ECM is gaining attention not only in the domestic market but also globally.” He added, “Based on the experience and scientific evidence we have accumulated over many years in the field of surgery, we will communicate with medical professionals and, as we have always done, continue to prioritize patient safety above all else.”

He continued, “Enhancing understanding of product characteristics and proper usage is the starting point for patient safety,” adding, “We will continue to listen to feedback from the clinical field and engage in academic exchanges to contribute to the responsible use and advancement of skin ECM.”
