[Edaily Starin Choi Hee-jae Reporter] “We were bound to be on the same page.” Still from the movie “Flowing Journey” (Photo courtesy of Jinjin Film) Actress Kim Hye-ok spoke about her chemistry with Justin Min at the press screening for the film “Flowing Journey,” held on the 16th at CGV Yongsan in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. The event was attended by actors Kim Hye-ok, Justin Min, Park Dae-ho, and director Kim Jin-yu.
Kim Hye-ok drew attention when she remarked on her chemistry with Justin Min, saying, “We were supposed to meet beforehand to rehearse our scenes, but I heard Justin Min turned it down.”
She continued, “It turned out he did that because he wanted to create a more dramatic and moving effect, so I completely understood,” adding, “You can’t help but like someone who’s that kind-hearted, can you?” as she shared the behind-the-scenes story.
Kim Hye-ok drew laughter by saying, “I liked Justin’s carefree nature. There was something endearing about him.” She boasted of their chemistry, saying, “Our first scene was in a car, and I thought, ‘Oh my, is that Justin?’ I liked him instantly. He seems like the epitome of someone who evokes maternal instincts.”
Regarding Park Dae-ho, who took on his first acting role in this project, she drew attention by saying, “I couldn’t help but like him. I was waiting in the elevator when a young man walked by, so I told my manager, ‘It would be great if someone like that played Seong-chan.’ Then, when I went up, there he was.”
She also spoke highly of Gong Min-jeong, who plays Na-kyung, saying, “Her acting flowed as naturally as water. With Na-kyung, in particular, I never even thought about the fact that we were acting.” She added, “She felt like a friend with whom I could share everything. I hope we can act together again in the future.”
“Flowing Journey” tells the story of “Chun-hee,” who, after losing her husband, was preparing for a journey of her own when she encounters unexpected connections in her new apartment, causing a new melody to begin flowing through her once-quiet daily life. Kim Hye-ok plays Chun-hee, Justin Min plays Min-jun, and Park Dae-ho plays Seong-chan.
This marks her first leading role on the big screen in 16 years, following the 2010 film “The Six-Shooter Gang.” Kim Hye-ok said, “I didn’t really think about acting,” adding, “I simply let the emotions inside me flow naturally as I acted.”
When asked why she chose this project, she said, “I chose it because the script showed the possibility that even neighbors—not blood relatives—can share the same affection as family and form a loving bond.”
Kim Hye-ok expressed her affection for the project, saying, “I acted by recalling the emotions I’d experienced throughout my life,” and added, “The premise itself was very similar to my own past experiences and circumstances. I felt that fate had brought this project to me.”
