“Trauma Center” is a thrilling story about Baek Kang-hyuk (Joo Ji-hoon), a genius surgeon who once served on the battlefield, as he is assigned to revive a defunct trauma team.
The cast from Season 1—Joo Ji-hoon, Choo Young-woo, Yoon Kyung-ho, and Jung Jae-kwang—has been confirmed to return. Jeong Ye-in will fill the vacancy left by Ha Young, who stepped down from the series amid controversy over her great-grandfather’s pro-Japanese activities.
Season 1, released on January 24 of last year, became a hit both domestically and internationally, reaching No. 1 on Netflix’s Global TV Shows (Non-English) chart just three days after its release. Buoyed by this popularity, the decision was made to produce the series in seasons.
Season 2 follows Baek Kang-hyuk and the Severe Trauma Team as they race against time to save lives by breaking through systemic bottlenecks amid even greater disasters and unpredictable crises.
Following Season 1, Director Lee Do-yoon will return to direct and write the screenplay for Seasons 2 and 3. Notably, up-and-coming writer Tomasz will join the writing team for Season 3.
Joo Ji-hoon continues to deliver the refreshing, “Baek Kang-hyuk-style” heroics that everyone has been waiting for. Attention is focused on how Baek Kang-hyuk, who is assigned a new mission in Season 2, will overcome the crises.
As the “No. 1 Official,” Choo Young-woo meticulously portrays the growth of Yang Jae-won, who has emerged as Baek Kang-hyuk’s successor. Yoon Kyung-ho, who brought laughter by channeling his “Baek Kang-hyuk persona” in every crisis, injects humor into the drama as Han Yu-rim, who has been promoted to Director of the Planning Office at Korea University Hospital.
Jeong Jae-gwang, who gained attention for his impactful acting, is set to further strengthen the team’s chemistry through his role as Park Gyeong-won, while Jeong Ye-in—cast after a rigorous audition process—portrays veteran nurse Cheon Jang-mi.
