Production company Take One Company announced on the 19th, “Actor Kang Ki-young and Kim Ji-woong of the group Zero Base One have been cast in the lead roles for the film ‘Siren.’”

“Siren” is a crime drama about a police academy student—the third-generation heir to a conglomerate who commutes to work in a supercar—and a top-tier detective who commutes by bicycle to make ends meet; it follows the unlikely partnership between a mentor trying to push his trainee out and a trainee who has absolutely no intention of leaving.

Directed by Oh Ki-hwan, known for the film *The Art of Work* and the ENA drama *I-Shopping*, the film depicts how two completely different people come face to face with each other’s worlds through a single case.

Kang Ki-young plays “Si-woo,” a top detective at Gangnam Police Station who works just to make ends meet. “Si-woo,” a special recruit, was focused solely on getting a special promotion when an arrest operation goes awry due to “Do-yoon,” a third-generation chaebol and police academy student who barges into a crime scene, putting him at risk of disciplinary action. The two, who had resolved never to cross paths again, reunite the next day at the Gangnam Police Station—as mentor and trainee—and “Si-woo” is tasked with convincing “Do-yoon” to give up on becoming a police officer.

Kim Ji-woong plays “Do-yoon,” the youngest son of the Kangseong Group who dreams of becoming a police officer and is currently a student at the Police Academy. “Do-yoon” is a character who resolved to become a police officer following a past incident; he is so dedicated to his work that he mobilizes money and connections to resolve even seemingly impossible situations. “Do-yoon,” who has no intention of quitting on his own, and “Si-woo,” who is determined to get him out of the force by any means necessary, clash at every turn, but eventually become partners and embark on an unpredictable investigation together.

In addition to the premise that blends comedy and crime drama, attention is focused on the acting chemistry that Kang Ki-young and Kim Ji-woong will create.

Filming for “Siren” has now been completed. Post-production is in full swing, with the goal of releasing the series next year.
