On the 20th (local time), the U.S. entertainment outlet The Hollywood Reporter reported that Keanu Reeves is in talks to star in the film “Gangster, Cop, Devil.” The role Keanu Reeves will play has not been disclosed.

“Gangster, Cop, Devil” is the U.S. adaptation of the 2019 film “The Villain.” According to the report, Paramount Pictures is moving forward with production of “Gangster, Cop, Devil,” and Ma Dong-seok, who starred in the original, will join the cast.

Director James Wan, who is helming the project, is best known for the “Saw” series, “The Conjuring,” “Insidious,” and “Fast & Furious 7.” The screenplay is being written by Eric Pearson, who wrote “Fantastic Four: Age of Quirk.”

The original film, “The Villain,” is a crime action movie about a gang boss who survived after accidentally becoming the target of a serial killer and a detective from the violent crimes unit, who is obsessed with catching the culprit, as they team up to hunt down the serial killer known as “K.” It was pre-sold to 104 countries overseas, including the U.S., Canada, Germany, and France, and was invited to the Midnight Screening section at the 72nd Cannes International Film Festival.
