[Edaily Starin Gim Ga Yeong Reporter] Netflix’s highly anticipated second-half release, “Slowly but Intensely,” will premiere on December 11.
On the 22nd, Netflix announced that “Slowly but Intensely” will be released on December 11. Set against the backdrop of the Korean entertainment industry in the 1960s–80s—a time when barbarism and violence ran rampant—*Slowly, Intensely* depicts the coming-of-age story of people who, despite having nothing, threw themselves wholeheartedly into the industry in pursuit of dazzling success. “Min-ja” (Song Hye-kyo), who overcomes a poor childhood where she had to do whatever it took to make money and eventually enters the music industry; her childhood friend “Dong-gu” (Gong Yoo), who stands by her side and races toward her dreams with her; “Min-hee” (Kim Seol-hyun), who possesses a bold personality and forges her own path to success while entangled in a love-hate relationship with “Min-ja”; and “Seok Gil-yeo” (Cha Seung-won), the era’s top composer capable of turning even a rookie singer into a top star. The series will tell the story of these characters as they rise from the depths of despair, overcoming hardship and adversity to race toward their own goals. In the poster released that day, the characters’ lives unfold like a panorama centered around a turntable. Moving past their difficult childhoods marked by poverty—which they endured together—the poster shows “Min-ja” and “Dong-gu” as adults taking on various jobs, including waitering, and growing into rookie managers, sparking curiosity about the challenges they’ve faced and what lies ahead. The sight of “Min-hee” singing with sparkling eyes and “Seok-gil-yeo” playing the saxophone with all her might builds anticipation for the special synergy the two will create through music. Additionally, the scenes featuring “Yang-ja” (Lee Ha-nui), singing with a look that’s both desperate and full of joy, and “Mal-soon” (Na Moon-hee), whose eyes reflect the joys and sorrows of the past, draw attention to the stories these characters will unfold. “Slowly but Intensely” is set to premiere on Netflix on December 11. Meanwhile, Netflix Korea has achieved success both domestically and internationally with a wide range of genres, from the “Kingdom” series to “Squid Game,” “Hellbound,” “Sweet Home,” “All of Us Are Dead,” “The Glory,” and “I’ve Been Completely Duped.” Attention is now focused on what kind of success the platform will achieve with this new genre, “Slowly but Intensely.”
