“Proxy College Entrance Exam” is a crime thriller that follows a single day on which their lives hang in the balance, as their individual shortcomings and desires collide, leading them down a path of irreversible crime. These young people are on the line—they must pass the college entrance exam without a hitch to avoid becoming outcasts in life. Amid an unpredictable plot rife with betrayal and trickery, the intense battle of wits and psychological warfare between three young adults facing extreme dilemmas is set to unfold with thrilling suspense.
Directed by Park So-yeon of *Pyramid Game*, the film features a cast of rising stars brimming with unique personalities—including Bae Hyun-sung, Cha Kang-yoon, and Park Yoon-ho—alongside trusted veterans such as Um Ji-won, Park Hyuk-kwon, and Baek Ji-won.
The solemn gazes of Nam Jae-yeop (played by Bae Hyun-sung) and Kang Geon-tae (played by Cha Kang-yoon) in the teaser poster hint at the fierce clash that lies ahead. The OMR cards superimposed over the two men—who are heading in the same direction but driven by conflicting desires—pique curiosity about the answers these characters, whose futures are on the line, will ultimately provide. In particular, the phrase “That Day, We Crossed the Line” heightens curiosity about the story of these characters who have made irreversible choices.
Bae Hyun-sung takes on the role of “Nam Jae-yeop,” a “perfect six-sided figure” blessed with a silver spoon, handsome looks, and excellent grades—yet everything is just a mask. As he begins to deviate from the life plan his father has laid out for him, cracks start to form in his perfect daily routine, and he begins to spiral out of control like a grenade with its safety pin pulled. Cha Kang-yoon plays “Kang Geon-tae,” a “miracle” of a “low-income special scholarship student” who never fails to rank first in the entire school at Jeonggyeong High, a school teeming with the wealthy. He gets caught up in a whirlwind after accepting an irresistible yet unjust proposal in an attempt to escape poverty. Park Yoon-ho plays “Joo Hee-dong,” whose pride and idol is his friend Kang Geon-tae. He takes a strange sense of pride in being the only friend to whom Kang Geon-tae confides his true feelings, but when Nam Jae-yeop appears, cracks form in their friendship, leading him to face unpredictable changes.
