“Who I Am Today” is a warm, soothing song that explores the moment when, amid the monotony of daily life, one suddenly pauses to reflect on where they are headed. The lyrics capture the emotions felt while comparing the adult self one dreamed of as a child with who they are now, along with a resolution to move toward a better tomorrow.
Son Seung-yeon’s delicate vocals are layered over a lyrical and gentle band sound. Moving away from her previous style, which emphasized her signature explosive vocal power, Son Seung-yeon has placed greater emphasis on lyricism and comfort. She also participated in the composition process, showcasing her talents as a singer-songwriter.
Son Seung-yeon, a former winner of Mnet’s “Voice Korea,” is active across both the music and musical theater industries. This year, she appeared in the musical “Hell’s Kitchen” and on MBC’s “The Top Contenders.” She went on to win the grand prize on “The Top Contenders,” a show billed as the ultimate audition competition.
