Kbank announced on the 30th that its net income for the third quarter of this year rose 119.2% year-over-year to 42.1 billion won. Including net income from the first half of the year, cumulative net income for the year stood at 102.1 billion won, down 1.3% from the same period last year.
Total revenue also increased. Third-quarter revenue rose 11.4% year-over-year to 360.2 billion won, while cumulative revenue reached 1.0112 trillion won, a 1.1% increase from last year.
The outstanding loan balance surpassed 20 trillion won for the first time. The expansion of the loan portfolio through aggressive growth in corporate lending had a positive impact on the improvement in financial performance. In fact, the outstanding balance of corporate loans increased by 89% year-over-year, and their share of total loans expanded to 17.7%. Corporate loans accounted for more than half of the increase in the outstanding loan balance this year.
In particular, Kbank accounted for 33.1% of the total net increase in loans to sole proprietors across the entire domestic banking sector through the third quarter of this year. The bank is accelerating its expansion of corporate finance, having provided 2.1 trillion won in loans to sole proprietors through the third quarter of this year alone.
The bank is also maintaining a positive trend in terms of financial soundness. Driven by expansion centered on real estate-secured loans and guaranteed loans, the delinquency rate for loans to sole proprietors stood at 0.55%. The delinquency rate for total loans was 0.62%, up 0.06 percentage points from the third quarter of last year (0.56%).
Interest income for the third quarter was 130.1 billion won, an increase of approximately 16.7% compared to the same period last year. Looking at the cumulative figure through the third quarter of this year (383.1 billion won), it was approximately 18.5% higher than the cumulative interest income of 323.2 billion won for the same period last year.
Non-interest income totaled 26.9 billion won, a 28.3% increase compared to the same period last year.
Kbank plans to continue expanding its financial services for sole proprietors, strengthen strategic partnerships, and further broaden its foundation for growth.
A Kbank official stated, “Despite a highly volatile external environment, we achieved strong growth—a 119% increase year-over-year—driven by the steady rise in loans to sole proprietors,” adding, “We will continue to expand our corporate finance market and collaborate with external platforms to secure new growth engines.”
