The Poles released their new single “LIFT” at 12:00 p.m. on the 30th via various music streaming platforms. This is their first new song in about a year since “Dancing Bird,” which was released last November.
“LIFT” is a song that captures the constant emotional ups and downs of chasing an intangible object. It expresses the sense of emptiness felt in the moment one realizes that the world they believed in was ultimately a fiction, through direct lyrics and an unbridled rock sound. The band’s musical evolution is evident in their approach of confronting emotions head-on rather than expressing them indirectly.
The sound has also become more streamlined and crisp. By combining lyrical melodies with the band’s stripped-down instrumentation—free of unnecessary embellishments—they have emphasized the song’s emotional tone. The contrast between the intense playing, reminiscent of 1990s and 2000s rock, and the delicate sensibility further showcases The Falls’ distinctive musical style.
Composed of Kim Daniel, Lee Hwang-je, and Kim Kyung-bae, The Falls has steadily expanded its presence through consistent live performances. Last November, they sold out their solo concert “Space Boys,” and they have performed on various stages, including the Peak Festival, Soundberry Festa, and Let’s Rock Festival. This year, they continued to connect with audiences by participating in the Seoul Jazz Festival and the Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival.
“Lift,” which deeply captures the band’s inner emotions while drawing on the energy they’ve honed on stage, is a new song that showcases the musical direction The Falls is pursuing.
