[Edaily Starin JOO MEE_HEE Reporter] The unique employee benefits program at “Wellspring of Inspiration,” the agency founded by Lee Chan-hyuk of the sibling duo AKMU, has been revealed and is drawing attention. (Photo: MBC’s “Omniscient Interfering View”) On the MBC variety show “Omniscient Interfering View,” which aired on the 31st of last month, the daily life at “Well of Inspiration”—the newly established agency representing Lee Chan-hyuk and Lee Soo-hyun—was featured. Its operational practices, which differ from those of typical entertainment agencies—ranging from housing subsidies for employees to a four-day workweek and dance classes during work hours—caught the public’s attention. The episode also featured the story of a manager who had worked closely with Lee Chan-hyuk for a long time and decided to change jobs. The manager, who had worked at YG Entertainment since 2022, revealed that while he was considering resigning, he received an offer from Lee Chan-hyuk—who was preparing to launch his own independent agency—to join him. At the time, Lee Chan-hyuk explained his three-year business plan and proposed, “The reason we make music is to enjoy life—why don’t we set out together to rediscover what truly matters?” He also spared no effort in supporting the manager’s new beginning. Despite his busy schedule, Lee Chan-hyuk personally searched for real estate listings to find a place for the manager to live. The manager surprised the cast by revealing, “He even covered the security deposit and monthly rent.” When asked why he takes such special care of his manager, Lee Chan-hyuk expressed his affection, saying, “Since I’m a workaholic, it’s not easy for anyone to be with me every step of the way,” adding, “But my manager actually enjoys that process with me. He’s like my alter ego.” Lee Chan-hyuk’s unique management philosophy was also evident in the employees’ daily lives. That day, after finishing their weekly meeting, the employees of “Wellspring of Inspiration” went as a group to a swing dance studio. This wasn’t just a social activity—it was an officially recognized part of the work schedule. It was also reported that Lee Chan-hyuk covered the cost of the lessons. Lee Chan-hyuk explained, “Even if you worked late the night before, you must still make time for exercise,” adding, “I wanted to share the positive things I’ve gained through my own experiences with my employees.” He continued, “This isn’t just about having fun. To create something new, you have to experience a lifestyle different from the norm,” emphasizing, “This is an investment in creating that kind of life.” The work system is also unconventional. “Wellspring of Inspiration” designates every Wednesday as a day off, operating on a four-day workweek. On Tuesdays, employees participate in “Sports Day,” where they exercise together, and after that, they can work from home. Upon seeing this, TV personality Lee Young-ja couldn’t hide her surprise, exclaiming, “I really want to work at this company.” The core value that Wellspring of Inspiration pursues is that “good music comes from a good life.” The aim is to foster creativity by having employees share diverse experiences together, moving beyond a relationship defined solely by work duties. In fact, employees participate together in various activities, ranging from volunteer work in Uganda to music video shoots. One employee described the company culture by saying, “Whatever we do, we do it together,” and a manager added, “Sharing joy while working together is a benefit in itself.” Meanwhile, AKMU ended their exclusive contract with YG Entertainment—where they had been signed for a long time—at the end of last year and established their independent agency, Wellspring of Inspiration, in January of this year. Lee Chan-hyuk and Lee Soo-hyun are continuing their musical activities under their new agency.
