[Edaily Reporter Kim Hyung-il ] H-City ( HCT(072990)) announced on the 2nd that it is expanding its capabilities in the field of nuclear safety equipment performance verification and has completed its registration as a supplier with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP), thereby strengthening its push into the nuclear market.

HCT has obtained additional certification as a performance verification body from the Korea Foundation for Nuclear Safety (KoFONS) in the areas of environmental resistance verification and seismic resistance verification (seismic analysis), and has completed its registration as a qualified supplier of spare parts for Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power’s (KHNP) General Specification Item (CGID) quality verification program.
In June 2022, HCT obtained certification in the fields of electromagnetic interference and electromagnetic immunity testing in accordance with Regulatory Guide RG 1.180 of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (US NRC). By expanding its certification scope to include environmental and seismic verification, the company has broadened its business scope from electromagnetic compatibility of nuclear facilities to environmental and seismic performance verification.
The environmental verification items for which the company received additional certification include temperature-humidity tests, thermal cycling tests, thermal aging tests, radiation aging tests, and related aging analyses. In the seismic verification field, the company has secured seismic analysis capabilities. HCT explains that, based on this, it has established a foundation to provide key performance verification services for nuclear facilities all under one roof.
The company is also expanding its testing infrastructure. To meet the demand for testing and certification related to new nuclear power plant construction and small modular reactors (SMRs), HCT is investing a total of 12 billion won to introduce large-scale seismic testing facilities and construct a new testing building. The company plans to complete the construction of the relevant facilities and infrastructure by the first quarter of 2027 and secure additional certifications in the fields of seismic testing and vibration aging testing by the first half of that year.
Registration as a qualified supplier with KHNP is expected to provide an opportunity to link existing performance verification projects with quality verification projects for standard components. CGID is a procedure that verifies whether standard components used in nuclear power plants meet the required quality and performance standards. With this registration, HCT can now expand its business scope to include tasks necessary for power plant operation and maintenance.
An HCT official stated, “We are strengthening our capabilities in verifying nuclear safety equipment based on our accumulated technical expertise and proactive facility investments,” adding, “We will continue to invest in quality management and infrastructure to contribute to improving domestic nuclear safety and expand our market presence.”
