[Edaily Reporter YUN GI BACK ] Monsta X’s Shownu and Hyungwon, along with SHINee’s Minho, were honored with the “Best Music” award at the “2026 Korea Grand Music Awards” (2026 KGMA).

Shownu X Hyungwon and Minho were named winners in the “Best Music” category on “Music Day,” the second day of the “2026 KGMA,” held on the 8th at Gocheok Sky Dome in Guro-gu, Seoul.
Through their unit activities, Shownu and Hyungwon combined their musical talents and performance skills to showcase a musical charm distinct from that of MONSTA X. Hyungwon, who took the stage without Shownu, said, “I’m here alone because Shownu isn’t feeling well,” adding, “I’m really sorry we couldn’t show you the performance we prepared.” He continued, “I’d like to thank Monbebe (the fan club) for coming all the way here despite the inclement weather,” and promised, “I’ll work hard next year so that I can come back and accept this award together with Shownu.”
Minho proved his unwavering musical prowess by topping global album charts even during his solo activities. “I’ve worked incredibly hard this year, and it feels great to be rewarded for it,” Minho said. “I’ll be holding my second solo concert in three weeks, and I promise to deliver a passionate performance to match the enthusiastic support from SHINEWORLD (fan club name),” he pledged.

The “KGMA” is an awards ceremony newly established in 2024 by Ilgan Sports (Edaily M)—which celebrated its 57th anniversary this year—to present a new paradigm for the South Korean pop music industry. Now in its third year, this year’s ceremony was hosted by Ilgan Sports and co-organized by the KGMA Organizing Committee and Creatoring.
On the second day, “Music Day,” NEXZ, RISE, Minho, Park Ji-hyun, BILLIE, Ahop, Alpha Drive One, A.N., ATEEZ, Waytion V, Yuna, ITZY, Choi Ye-na, Kiss of Life, Kiki, Kickflip, Touched, TOURS, and Hearts to Hearts will take the stage. Shenu of Shenu X Hyungwon will not be attending due to health reasons; Hyungwon and some other members of MONSTA X will attend in his place. IVE’s Liz and actor Kim Jae-won will serve as MCs.
The “KGMA” digital and physical sales data is provided by Hanteo Chart, Genie Music, FLO, and Bugs, while the official fan vote will be conducted via the KooGung app. The event will be broadcast live on ENA. In Japan, it will be streamed live on Hulu Japan, and globally (excluding Japan and China), it will be streamed live on TikTok Live.
