[Edaily Reporter JAEMIN SONG ] With the Samsung Lions claiming the Korean Series title for the first time in 12 years, attention is turning to whether Samsung Group affiliates will launch discount promotions to celebrate the victory. Given that major affiliates such as SamsungElectronics and SAMSUNG C&T CORPORATION held discount events for home appliances, clothing, and amusement park tickets during past championship runs, all eyes are on whether large-scale consumer benefits will be offered this year as well.

On the 8th, the Samsung Lions defeated the KTCorporation Wiz 12–1 in Game 5 of the 2026 Shinhan SOL KBO Korean Series at Daegu Samsung Lions Park, clinching the championship with a series record of 4 wins and 1 loss. This marks their ninth championship overall and their first in 12 years since 2014. Notably, they climbed to the top by winning four straight games against KTCorporation—the regular-season champion—after losing the first game.

With the Samsung Lions’ championship victory, anticipation is growing for discount promotions from Samsung Group affiliates. In the past, Samsung has held various consumer events—such as discounts on major products and giveaways—to celebrate the baseball team’s championships.

During the 2014 championship, SamsungElectronics offered TV buyers discounts of up to 200,000 won and 24-month interest-free installment plans. Through the “Samsung Lions V6 Championship Celebration Event,” the company also gave away prizes such as smart cameras, commemorative sterling silver medals, and tickets to musicals.

Its fashion and leisure subsidiaries also joined the discount promotions. At the time, Cheil Industries (now the Fashion Division of SAMSUNG C&T CORPORATION) held a special discount event offering up to 40% off at both online and offline stores. Products from the Beanpole brand were sold at a 10% discount, while Namsung clothing brands such as Galaxy and Rogadis were discounted by 20%. Everland, operated by the Resort Division of SAMSUNG C&T CORPORATION, also offered a 30% discount on admission fees to customers participating in the event.

This year, attention is focused on whether additional benefits will be offered, given that SamsungElectronics is already running a large-scale discount event. SamsungElectronics is holding the “Korea Grand Festival with SamsungElectronics” through the 30th of this month, offering discounts on 11 major home appliance items—including TVs, refrigerators, and washing machines—as well as five mobile and IT products.

The promotion includes artificial intelligence (AI) appliances such as the “Bespoke AI Combo” and “Bespoke AI Steam,” as well as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Tab S11. A “Smart Package” program is also available, offering additional discounts when multiple products are purchased together.

However, the current event is a consumer promotion organized independently of the Samsung Lions’ championship victory. It has not yet been confirmed whether Samsung Group affiliates will hold championship-commemorative discount events or what specific benefits they might offer. Attention is focused on whether major affiliates, such as SamsungElectronics and SAMSUNG C&T CORPORATION, will introduce additional discounts or customer participation events following the team’s first Korean Series championship in 12 years.
