Twelve organizations across the tourism sector—including hotels, travel agencies, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) companies, as well as the casino industry—are jointly voicing opposition to the government’s plans to reform the casino licensing and tourism fund systems. They are demanding the withdrawal of the plan—which raises the upper limit on the tourism fund contribution rate from 10% to 15% and introduces a five-year license renewal system—citing concerns that it will increase the burden on operators running at a loss and stifle long-term investment. This controversy is spreading beyond casino regulations to become an issue of investment stability and competitiveness across the entire tourism industry.
