[Edaily Reporter Park Jeong-soo] On the 5th, SK Securities assessed #A-TUM as the only company in Korea to possess flat-type small transformer technology, noting that it has secured growth opportunities across various industries, including artificial intelligence (AI) data centers, electric vehicles (EVs), and defense. The firm did not provide an investment opinion or target price. The current stock price is 4,060 won. Na Seung-doo, an analyst at SK Securities, stated, “A-Tum’s unique flat-type transformer technology could be a game-changer in the transformer market across various industries,” adding, “It offers advantages over existing coil-type transformers in terms of miniaturization, weight reduction, thermal management, and production automation.” Flat-type transformers use a structure with flat copper foil patterns instead of the conventional coil-type method of winding copper wire around a core. They are considered advantageous for supply chain management and cost reduction because they allow for smaller and lighter designs than coil-type transformers, facilitate heat management, and enable production automation. Atom is moving beyond technology development to expand mass production. The company is preparing to launch a new factory to increase shipments of transformers for portable chargers, TVs, and electric vehicles, and recently signed a cooperation agreement with Sungho Electronics for the development and production of switching power supplies (SMPS) for AI data centers. Researcher Na stated, “As global AI data centers are being restructured around high-voltage power infrastructure, demand for flat-type transformers—which offer high efficiency, excellent space utilization, and easy thermal management—is bound to grow,” adding, “We expect them to play a key role in the core value chain of future AI data centers.” The growth of affiliated companies was also cited as a key factor to watch. Cheonghan Electronics, which operates an MLCC distribution business, is expected to benefit from increased investment in AI data centers, while DST, a manufacturer of ship and defense engine parts, is anticipated to gain momentum from additional orders driven by the growth of the shipbuilding industry and rising demand for ship engines used in data center power supply. Analyst Na assessed, “The expansion of the flat-type transformer business, coupled with the growth of affiliated companies, is increasing the likelihood of a revaluation of the company’s value.”
