Kona-i announced on the 5th that its board of directors has resolved to acquire 100,000 shares of common stock. The estimated acquisition cost is approximately 5.01 billion won, and the purchase will be conducted via on-market trading on the stock exchange for a period of three months, from August 8 to September 7. The company explained that this is “a measure demonstrating its commitment to strengthening responsible management and expanding shareholder return policies.”
This decision is driven by Kona-i’s rapid growth in performance. Kona-i has simultaneously expanded its scale and profitability, fueled by strong exports of smart cards—centered on metal cards—and the expansion of its local community gift certificate platform into more municipalities. In 2025, consolidated revenue reached 309.2 billion won, a 31% increase year-over-year, while operating profit surged 166% to 88.9 billion won. In the first quarter of this year, the company continued its growth momentum, with operating profit rising 95% year-over-year to 24.8 billion won and net profit increasing 160% to 23.4 billion won.
Kona-i has also been accelerating its shareholder-friendly policies this year. Following the announcement of its three-year dividend policy at the beginning of the year—which pledged to maintain a dividend payout ratio of over 25% of consolidated net income—the company is now establishing a comprehensive shareholder return system that combines dividends with share buybacks through this treasury stock acquisition. A company official stated, “This decision reflects the management’s consistent commitment to enhancing shareholder value.”
Chairman Cho Jung-il remarked, “This share repurchase puts into practice Kona-i’s consistent management policy of growing together with our shareholders,” adding, “Management is confident in the business foundation Kona-i has built and its future growth potential.” He continued, “We will continue to enhance shareholder value through a comprehensive shareholder return structure that combines dividends and share buybacks.”
