Arriving at Gimpo Airport at 1 p.m. and heading straight to T1 Base Camp
"Without PC Bangs and Esports, There Would Be No NVIDIA"
Expanding Cooperation in the Gaming Industry… Also Met with Kim Taek-jin, Jang Byung-kyu, and Others
Meeting with Faker Highlights the Importance of the Korean Gaming Ecosystem
[Edaily Reporter Ahn Yu-ri] NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang will visit "T1 Base Camp" in Mapo-gu, Seoul, immediately after arriving in South Korea to meet with professional gamer Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok.
Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok of Team T1 attends the LCK (League of Legends Champions Korea) 2026 Season Opening Media Day held at LoL Park in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on March 26. According to the IT industry on the 5th, CEO Huang is scheduled to visit the 'T1 Base Camp' in Mapo-gu, Seoul, at 3 p.m. today to meet with Lee Sang-hyeok, a League of Legends (LoL) player for T1. T1 Base Camp is an esports PC café operated by T1.
It is reported that CEO Hwang will head straight to Hongdae from the airport immediately after arriving in the country today. Initially, industry insiders and outsiders had expected CEO Hwang to meet with SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won, LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, and Naver Chairman Lee Hae-jin at a barbecue restaurant in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, this evening; however, rumors suggest that the meeting with Lee Sang-hyeok played a role in the decision to change the venue to the Hongdae area.
The fact that CEO Hwang included a meeting with a world-renowned esports star in his itinerary—which involves consecutive meetings with the heads of major domestic conglomerates and IT company executives—is interpreted as a move demonstrating his special interest in Korean gaming culture.
Lee Sang-hyeok is an iconic figure representing Korean esports. As a League of Legends (LoL) pro gamer who has secured a global fanbase under the name “Faker,” he serves as the flagship player for T1.
Industry insiders point to the symbolic role that Korean PC bangs and esports culture played in NVIDIA’s growth as the reason behind CEO Huang’s meeting with Lee Sang-hyeok.
CEO Huang attended the “NVIDIA GeForce Gamer Festival” held at COEX in Seoul last October, stating, “Without PC games, PC bangs, and esports, today’s NVIDIA would not exist,” and adding, “All of this is thanks to esports and Korea.”
This meeting is also seen as a message that NVIDIA views the Korean gaming industry not merely as a consumer market, but as a key partner in the AI era. NVIDIA has recently been expanding its business scope beyond gaming graphics technology to include in-game AI characters, generative AI-based development tools, digital humans, and physical AI.
During his visit to Korea, CEO Huang is also scheduled to meet with key figures in the domestic gaming industry, including Kim Taek-jin, CEO of NC, and Jang Byung-gyu, Chairman of Krafton.
