With a total score of 5-under-par 283, Kim Si-woo finished the tournament tied for 10th place with Maverick McNealy (USA).
Kim Si-woo, who had taken a break after finishing runner-up at The CJ Cup Byron Nelson two weeks ago, continued his upward momentum by finishing in the top 10 at this tournament. This marks his eighth top-10 finish of the season.
Until the final round, a top-10 finish did not seem likely. After finishing the second round tied for 38th, he climbed to a tie for 22nd in the third round, but he was still far behind the leaders. However, on the final day, he demonstrated his trademark late-round strength, climbing 12 spots in the standings.
His focus was particularly evident as he cut four strokes over the final four holes. After reaching the green in two on the 15th hole (par 5), he sank an eagle putt from about 17 meters to shave two strokes off his score in one fell swoop. He then sank a roughly 5-meter birdie putt on the 16th hole (par 3), and on the final 18th hole (par 4), he placed his second shot from 173 yards just 2.2 meters from the hole before making the birdie to secure a top-10 finish.
Kim Si-woo, who had already surpassed $6 million in season earnings with his runner-up finish at The CJ Cup Byron Nelson, added $545,000 (approximately 849 million won) from this tournament, bringing his season total to $6,575,361 (approximately 10.2 billion won). He also maintained his 7th-place ranking on the money list. With this, he has already significantly surpassed his previous personal best for a single season, set in 2023 at $5,397,030.
Kim Si-woo, who recorded his eighth top-10 finish of the season, also set a new personal best in the world rankings. In the world rankings announced after the tournament, he rose to 18th place, marking the highest ranking among Asian players.
The victory went to JT Poston (USA). Poston tied with Ryan Griffin (USA) at 12-under-par 276 and claimed the title after a playoff on the 18th hole. Both players carded pars in the first playoff hole, and the contest remained undecided after the second playoff hole as well; however, Poston secured the victory when Griffin made a bogey while Poston again recorded a par.
Im Sung-jae carded a 1-over-par 73 in the final round, finishing with a total of 2-over-par 290 to tie for 32nd place. JT Poston (left) poses for a commemorative photo with Arnold Palmer, the host of the Memorial Tournament. (Photo = AFPBBNews)
