[Edaily Reporter Kim Jeong-yu] #Fond Group is expanding its business scope by acquiring a series of e-commerce companies. This time, the company plans to acquire a live commerce firm to strengthen synergies with its core fashion and cosmetics (beauty) business.

Pond Group announced on the 8th that it has acquired a 50.1% stake in Monad Holdings, which operates the live commerce platform "Monab Live." Monab Live hosts over 400 live broadcasts per month, with a cumulative total of over 30,000 broadcasts. It is an official partner of Kakao and Naver and has also formed a partnership with China’s Tisu.

Through this acquisition, Pond Group will be able to enhance synergies with its own customer-based platform, "Clickmate," and product supplier "Hulk Warehouse." This means the company now possesses all the core capabilities of live commerce: sellers, a platform, product supply, and content.

In the future, Monad Live plans to showcase Pond Group’s fashion and beauty brands through live commerce content. The company also intends to launch “Celeb Commerce,” a business model that combines celebrity management with live commerce.

A company official stated, “Once the business is fully operational, we project that Pond Group’s live commerce business will generate total transaction volume exceeding 500 billion won next year, accounting for over 30% of the company’s total operating profit.” The official added, “We will actively pursue this business to ensure it quickly establishes itself as a core business segment with both growth potential and profitability, following our fashion and beauty divisions.”



A Monad Holdings official commented, “We have moved from operating live commerce independently to now being able to run it in tandem with proven brands and platforms.” They added, “With an increased number of affiliates available for collaboration, the scope of what Monad can achieve—from product sourcing to broadcasting, celebrity management, and global expansion—has expanded significantly.” <End>
