"Create AI Shorts and Head to LA"... LG Uplus and Google Host AI Video Contest

[Edaily Reporter Kim Hyun-ah] #LG Uplus is partnering with Google to host the "Uth Shorts Festival," a video contest utilizing generative AI. Eleven winners, including the grand prize winner, will be offered an AI training opportunity in Los Angeles (LA), USA.

LG Uplus announced on the 8th that it will host the second "Uth Shorts Festival" in collaboration with YouTube, centered around its Gen Z-exclusive brand "Uth." The contest runs until July 31, and anyone can participate regardless of age or mobile carrier.

Participants can enter by uploading a short video created using generative AI to YouTube and submitting it via the official website. This year’s theme is “Expressing My True Self Using AI.”

There are two categories: the “Simply” category, where participants use generative AI to express their personal tastes and daily lives, and the “Arts” category, where they create content using AI-generated voice and sound. Participants may enter both categories.

LG Uplus will provide online and offline training sessions with AI creators, as well as video production guides, to help participants easily utilize AI. Additionally, participants who apply for discount vouchers will receive a package deal consisting of Google AI Pro and Domino’s Pizza coupons. This will allow participants to utilize the latest AI video and content creation features.

Winners will also be given a special opportunity to experience AI firsthand. Eleven winners, including the Grand Prize winner, will participate in a 5-night, 7-day AI training program this September, visiting "DATA LAND," the world’s first AI museum in Los Angeles, and Google’s U.S. headquarters. The winning entries will be exhibited at LG Uplus’s multi-cultural space, "The Gap Between the Ordinary and the Extraordinary by U+."

In addition, winners of the Excellence Award (6 recipients) and Encouragement Award (10 recipients) will receive prize money of 400,000 won and 200,000 won, respectively, and all winners will be awarded the “U+ X Google Certificate” jointly issued by LG Uplus and Google. All participants will also receive a Mega Coffee Iced Americano coupon.

Last year’s inaugural Youth Shorts Festival attracted approximately 3,000 participants and received 6,884 submissions. Interest among the younger generation was particularly high, with 77% of participants in their teens and twenties.

Jang Jun-young, Head of the Marketing Group at LG Uplus (Senior Vice President), stated, “The Youth Shorts Festival is a participatory program that allows customers to experience AI technology firsthand and create their own content,” adding, “We will continue to provide various opportunities so that anyone can use AI easily and comfortably.”
