[Edaily Reporter Kim Hyun-ah] #Neowiz is shifting to a "development-centric management" system by appointing its first CEO with a background in game development since the company’s founding.

Neowiz announced that it has nominated Park Sung-jun, head of the New Game Development Group, as its new CEO. Park is scheduled to officially take office following approval at the regular board meeting this August and will lead the company under a co-CEO system alongside current CEO Bae Tae-geun.

This personnel decision was timed to coincide with the full-scale launch of the company’s new game development pipeline. Neowiz’s strategy is to place the expertise and execution capabilities of the development team at the forefront of management to enhance global market competitiveness and secure next-generation growth engines.

This appointment is particularly significant as it marks the first time in Neowiz’s history that a CEO has been selected from a development background. Amid the domestic gaming industry’s all-out efforts to compete with major new titles and expand into global markets, this move is seen as reflecting the company’s commitment to making development capabilities a core pillar of its corporate competitiveness.

This move is also seen as a signal that Neowiz, which is pursuing a leap toward becoming a console and global game company following the success of "The Lie of P," is further strengthening its development DNA. Since the competitiveness of the game industry ultimately stems from hit content, this is interpreted as a strategic gamble to create success with new titles by placing a development leader in the CEO position.

Park is the figure who spearheaded the development of "The Lie of P," one of Neowiz’s most successful titles. He has served as head of the ROUND8 Studio division since 2019 and, since 2023, has concurrently served as head of the New Title Development Group, overseeing the development of the company’s next-generation game lineup.

He is a veteran developer who has led development teams for over 10 years, having served as Development Director at Neowiz CRS and Head of the Console Development Division at Neowiz Bless Studio. In particular, he is recognized as a key figure behind the success of "The Lie of P," which sold over 3 million copies globally, and its expansion content (DLC), "The Lie of P: Overture."

Even after assuming the role of CEO, Park is expected to continue serving as Head of the New Game Development Group, playing a role that directly links major project development with business strategy. The plan is to accelerate decision-making on the development front lines and respond more agilely to market changes.

Neowiz is currently developing a number of new projects. The company anticipates that the release of new titles will begin in earnest starting in 2027 and is focusing on maximizing the synergy between its development and business capabilities.

Park Seong-jun, the CEO-designate, stated, “Several projects are currently on a stable development track,” adding, “Starting in 2027, we will be able to fully unveil the pipeline of new titles that Neowiz has been preparing.”

He continued, “We will prioritize the fun that gamers desire as our top value and concentrate our efforts on introducing new titles that are competitive in the global market, based on the experience and know-how accumulated in our development teams.”

Meanwhile, CEO Kim Seung-cheol will step down from his position as CEO but will remain as an inside director and continue to participate in company management as a member of the board of directors.
