The “Jangbogo-III Batch-II Project,” led by the Republic of Korea Navy and the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), is a large-scale national project to build three 3,000-ton submarines using domestic technology, with the third vessel scheduled for delivery to the Navy in December 2031. Hanwha Ocean is currently building the third vessel, and Susean E&N is participating in the submarine electronic warfare system development project awarded to LIG D&A. Through its participation in this project, Susean E&S has expanded its business scope into the field of defense research and development. An official from Susean E&S stated, “Based on continuous R&D in the electronic warfare field and close cooperation with LIG D&A, we will do our best to contribute to the development of the domestic defense industry.” Susean E&S is currently performing routine maintenance on instrumentation and control (I&C) systems for nuclear power plants. It successfully developed the “POSAFE-Q PLC,” the only safety-grade control device in Korea and the fourth of its kind globally, and has applied it to the MMIS of the domestic APR1400 nuclear power plant. Additionally, the company was selected as a participating firm in the development of the core platform for the Innovative Small Modular Reactor (i-SMR) technology development project, jointly promoted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of Science and ICT. Since 2021, the company has also expanded into the maintenance and performance improvement of aviation electronic warfare systems.
