Samsung Electronics' AX Division at a Crossroads… to Use ChatGPT and Gemini for DX Operations
Boosting Competitiveness in the Finished Goods Sector Through AX
External Generative AI to Be Introduced for Employees Starting on the 12th
Selecting the Right AI Based on Task Characteristics and Objectives
[Edaily Reporter Kim So-yeon] Samsung Electronics has allowed its employees to use ChatGPT, Gemini Enterprise, and Claude for work purposes.
By adopting generative AI from global tech giants for business operations, the company is staking its future on AI Transformation (AX) to improve work methods. Samsung and other domestic companies have recently begun actively pursuing AX. This is part of an effort to boost productivity and ultimately secure corporate competitiveness through AX.
Samsung Electronics’ Device Experience (DX) division announced on the 11th that it will officially introduce external generative AI services for its employees on the 12th. Going forward, DX division employees will be able to use big tech generative AI within the company. Rather than limiting employees to a single AI service, the company has allowed them to select the AI most suitable for the specific characteristics and objectives of their tasks. Edaily DB The goal is to create an environment where every employee can utilize the optimal tools. Samsung Electronics previously conducted a pilot test involving approximately 2,500 employees to verify the effectiveness of candidate external generative AI services. Based on these results, the company selected three leading generative AI services provided by global tech giants and has been preparing for their implementation.
Samsung Electronics plans to use AX to △improve work productivity △innovate work methods △accelerate decision-making △and elevate organizational execution capabilities to the next level. This is a measure to fundamentally change work methods, accelerate AX, and enhance competitiveness in the DX sector in the global market based on this foundation.
Roh Tae-moon, President and CEO of Samsung Electronics, emphasized, “The adoption of external generative AI is not merely about providing AI as a work tool, but rather a starting point for fundamentally transforming the way we work and the speed of our execution.”
He added, “We will create an environment where every employee can utilize the AI best suited to their work, thereby enhancing organizational execution capabilities beyond individual productivity and taking our business competitiveness in the DX sector to the next level.”
Samsung Electronics plans to continue refining its services and operational policies to reflect diverse job roles and organizational characteristics, thereby supporting the more effective use of AI in actual work environments. The company intends to fully implement AX across the entire organization.
