[Edaily Reporter Kim Hyun-ah] #Kakao is setting up an online cheering section within KakaoTalk for fans supporting the South Korean national soccer team.

The company is launching a participatory campaign called “KakaoTalk Cheering Event,” where users can communicate in real time and share the joy of cheering.

The core of this campaign is real-time cheering using KakaoTalk Open Chat communities. Kakao will operate a total of three dedicated cheering rooms for soccer fans: the “Legend Room” and “Icon Room” for cheering on the national team together and discussing soccer, and the “Solo Room” for image-based communication.

Users can choose a chat room that suits their preferences to freely chat, share photos, and participate in cheering.

Various events have also been prepared to further fuel the cheering spirit. Participants in the soccer quiz event will be entered into a drawing to win 2026 national team jerseys and Nexon mobile gift cards.

Additionally, users can customize their profiles using images of national team players and campaign-exclusive designs, and a program will be available where chat room participants can use cheer scripts to chant slogans together.

You can participate in the “KakaoTalk Cheering Event” via the “Now” tab, the third tab in KakaoTalk. Starting with the first round in partnership with Nexon’s online soccer game “FC Online” through the 12th, the second round will take place on the 18th and 19th, and the third round on the 24th and 25th.

On match days, quizzes, cheering events, and free cheering programs will be held during the first and second halves, as well as at halftime.

Along with the cheering events, Kakao will provide a variety of soccer-related content. Users can enjoy soccer-related content through short-form videos and find communities for their favorite teams in Open Chat to interact with others. A “Soccer Bot” has also been introduced, allowing users to play soccer mini-games.

A Kakao representative stated, “We prepared this campaign so that KakaoTalk can become an online cheering section enjoyed by the entire nation,” adding, “Going forward, we will continue to expand participatory experiences through the ‘Now’ tab, where users can naturally connect and enjoy activities together based on shared interests.”
