LGU+'s 'Simple Mailbox,' a service for sharing voice messages of encouragement, surpasses 1,000 messages in just three days

LG Uplus announced on the 14th that its campaign “Simple Mailbox,” which utilizes an automated response system (ARS) and artificial intelligence (AI), has been well-received since its launch.

Simple Voicemail is a service that allows users to leave encouragement messages directly via phone or listen to messages left by other users. It was designed to provide a new voice-based communication experience that connects people’s hearts, moving beyond the traditional focus on fast connections.

The service operates anonymously. Users can leave encouraging messages in their own voices without any pressure and listen to messages left by others.

LG Uplus explained that it took note of societal changes where the volume of messages has increased in the digital environment, but emotional communication has decreased. Believing that telecommunications services can go beyond being mere means of connection to add comfort and empathy to users’ daily lives, the company introduced an experience for exchanging encouraging messages via voice.

Users wishing to participate can call the main number (1811-1110) regardless of their mobile carrier. They can then choose one of the following options: 1) “Leave a Message of Support,” 2) “Listen to Messages,” or 3) “Leave a Message of Support for Firefighters.” Support messages are recorded for approximately one minute, and the saved messages are delivered to other users.

LG Uplus will donate 1,000 won to the “Firefighter Family Hope Sharing” fund for every participation in either “Leave a Message of Support” or “Leave a Message of Support for Firefighters.” This campaign is being conducted in conjunction with the content series “People Fighting for Every Second,” which promotes LG Uplus’s “Priority Access Service for Firefighter Corporate Lines” designed to support firefighters’ rapid rescue operations.

The collected voice data is converted into text using AI. It is then analyzed for context, categorized, and automatically matched with an encouraging message suited to the user’s situation. Inappropriate expressions are filtered out.

The support messages are organized into 12 categories, including career and employment, workplace and work, relationships, and burnout and lethargy. LG Uplus plans to enhance the personalized experience by providing messages tailored to users’ specific concerns.

In fact, over 1,000 encouraging messages were posted in the Simple Mailbox within just three days of its launch. Messages such as “Even if the path you’re walking feels difficult and frustrating right now, the time you’ve persevered so far has never been in vain” were left in the mailbox.

For users exhausted by interpersonal relationships, messages of comfort were shared, such as: “You must have felt very lonely and desolate, having given your all only to be met with hurt in return. But please remember: if someone has hurt you, it is not because you are lacking, but because that person is not worthy of holding your beautiful heart.”

LG Uplus explained that the campaign is also receiving positive responses on social media. Users commented, “A service where you can feel the warmth of a voice that text alone cannot convey,” “A warm channel for exchanging encouragement anonymously,” and “It feels like a space where you can rest your mind amidst a busy daily life.”

Kim Hee-jin, Head of the Brand Marketing Team at LG U+, stated, “I believe the essence of telecommunications lies in connecting one person’s heart to another through the voice.” She added, “We will continue to listen to our customers’ voices and create a new participatory culture where encouragement is exchanged through a single voice, extending the value of ‘Simply. U+’ into everyday experiences.”
