Boosting Health Food Exports… Cosmax Doubles Production Capacity for Snack-Style Formulations

Monthly Production of Jelly and Liquid Sticks Expanded to 47 Million Packages Strengthening Gumi and Ultra-Compact Products in Light of Global Trends

[Edaily Reporter Kim Eung-tae] Cosmax Group is set to strengthen its business in snack-type health functional foods. The company is launching a full-scale strategy to expand global exports by expanding its production facilities for snack-type products. The plan is to introduce innovative products in response to growing demand for jelly and liquid stick-type health functional foods and to broaden overseas sales channels.

According to Cosmax Group on the 15th, its ODM affiliates #Cosmax NBT and Cosmax Bio have more than doubled their combined monthly production capacity (CAPA) for snack-type health functional food formulations—jellies and liquid products—from 21 million packs to 47 million packs this year.
Cosmax NBT has enhanced both processing speed and production flexibility by adding a 12-lane production line to its back-pack stick line, which significantly improves production efficiency compared to the previous 5-lane setup. As a result, monthly production capacity has doubled from 15 million packs. Additionally, the company has installed new molding and filling equipment on its gummy manufacturing line to strengthen its overall production capabilities for snack-type formulations.
Cosmax Bio expanded its production capacity to three times the previous level of 6 million packs by increasing the number of liquid stick fillers from one to three. This equipment, featuring a 10-row back-to-back configuration specialized for filling jelly and gel formulations, serves as a core production infrastructure that underpins the snack formulation technology expertise Cosmax Bio has accumulated over more than 15 years.
This facility expansion is intended to meet the growing export demand for snack-type formulations from client companies. Currently, the global dietary supplement market is shifting from traditional tablet- and capsule-based products toward snack-type formulations such as jellies, liquid sticks, gummies, and micro-tablets. This trend is driven by an increasing number of consumers who prioritize both health management and ease of consumption.
This trend is evident in the snack-formulation sales of Cosmax NBT and Cosmax Bio. From January to March of this year, combined sales of liquid formulations by the Korean subsidiaries of both companies reached 32.9 billion won, a 37% increase year-over-year, while sales of jelly formulations grew 51% to 13.4 billion won. Sales of gummy formulations surged 238% to 4.4 billion won.
Strengthened production capabilities are also leading to overall performance improvements, including exports. In the first quarter of this year, Cosmax NBT’s export sales reached 39.9 billion won, a 47% increase year-over-year. Cosmax Bio’s export sales also grew by 26% to 7.1 billion won.
The Cosmax Group plans to continue strengthening its export competitiveness by leading with innovative formulations targeting the global market. Cosmax NBT possesses differentiated formulation technologies, including not only jellies and gummies but also “SaRrr,” which rapidly disperses and dissolves powders; “BoRrr,” a melting powder that dissolves gently in the mouth; and “a:dam,” an ultra-small tablet that reduces size by more than 66% compared to standard tablets.
Cosmax Bio is introducing formulations that offer diverse consumption experiences, including the jelly-specialized line "JelEx," introduced in 2024, the hybrid-coated chewable tablet "Crunch Tab," and "som Tab," which dissolves quickly without water. In addition, the company is expanding its portfolio with ultra-small tablets such as ‘Ball Tab’ and ‘Mini Tab’.
A Cosmax Group official stated, “Based on our expanded production capacity for snack formulations and differentiated material technologies, we will respond more comprehensively to the diverse development needs of our domestic and international clients.”
