Exchanges within the Domestic Technology Ecosystem Ahead of the Launch of a Korean Subsidiary
[Edaily Reporter Shin Young-bin] Key AI executives from Anthropic are visiting Naver (#NAVER) to meet with local developers. As Anthropic prepares to launch its Korean subsidiary, this move is seen as an effort to expand its engagement with the domestic AI ecosystem.
According to the IT industry on the 16th, Kaitlin Resi, Head of Platform Engineering at Anthropic, and Angela Jang, Head of Product, will visit the Naver 1784 headquarters in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, today to host a developer meetup. The two executives are expected to share Anthropic’s AI technology and security expertise, as well as discuss technical considerations required for developing generative AI services.
Anthropic’s visit to Naver is drawing attention as it comes amid a recent wave of global AI companies reaching out to domestic tech firms. Previously, global tech giants such as NVIDIA and OpenAI were also reported to have explored potential collaborations with Naver regarding AI infrastructure and services.
There is a growing consensus that Naver, equipped with its own super-large AI model, cloud services, and data center infrastructure, is emerging as a key partner for global AI companies.
Anthropic, in particular, is preparing to expand its business in Korea ahead of the opening of its Seoul office. Following the recent appointment of Choi Ki-young, former CEO of Snowflake Korea, as its Korea representative, the company appears to be broadening its engagement with local developers and corporate clients.
An industry insider stated, “Korea is a market where both the adoption of AI services and the developer ecosystem are growing rapidly,” adding, “Global AI companies are stepping up their efforts to secure technology partners and a customer base in Korea.”
