[Edaily Reporter Kim Ji-woo] #Aekyung Industries is accelerating the restructuring of its cosmetics business by merging with its subsidiary, the skincare brand “One Thing.” Since joining the Taekwang Group, the company has identified expanding the share of cosmetics sales as a core growth strategy. It plans to strengthen its skincare portfolio centered on One Thing and target the global beauty market.
Aekyung Industries announced on the 16th that it had completed all merger procedures, as disclosed in the merger completion report filed on the 15th. This merger was conducted as a small-scale merger, with the process finalized through board approval without a separate shareholders’ meeting. The period for creditors to file objections ran from May 11 to June 11, and the absorption merger was finalized on June 12 as the merger effective date.
This merger is part of Aekyung Industries’ growth strategy. Aekyung Industries became a subsidiary of the Taekwang Group on March 26. The company stated its intention to transform into a global total beauty company through aggressive investment and has set a plan to expand the proportion of cosmetics sales—which accounted for 32% of last year’s revenue—to over 50% by 2028. One Thing was mentioned as the skincare brand the company plans to focus on developing during this period.
One Thing is a skincare brand acquired by Aekyung Industries in 2022. It features a minimalist skincare concept focused on core cosmetic ingredients.
Moving forward, One Thing plans to strengthen its positioning as a global skincare brand that is both minimalist and sophisticated, going beyond its current identity as a simple ingredient-focused brand. Additionally, the company plans to expand its product categories—such as cleansers and creams—centered around its flagship Centella Asiatica line. It will also launch marketing campaigns to reinforce the brand’s heritage.
Through this merger, Aekyung Industries plans to lay the groundwork for sustainable growth by improving the operational efficiency of its skincare business and strengthening brand competitiveness. Aekyung Industries recently reorganized its cosmetics business structure, establishing a new skincare division and creating a dedicated marketing department to enhance brand competitiveness.
An Aekyung Industrial official stated, “This merger is a strategic decision to pool the capabilities of One Thing and Aekyung Industrial to elevate the competitiveness of our skincare business to the next level,” adding, “By combining One Thing’s brand assets with Aekyung Industrial’s business capabilities, we will cultivate a skincare brand that is competitive in the global market.”
