[Edaily Reporter Shin Ha-yeon] #Curacle, a developer of treatments for intractable vascular diseases, and MapTix, a company specializing in antibodies, are set to expand their global business development efforts at "BIO USA 2026," the world’s largest biotech event.
Curacle announced on the 16th that it will participate in the 'BIO International Convention 2026 (BIO USA)', taking place in San Diego, USA, from the 22nd to the 25th (local time), alongside Maptics, to hold partnership and technology transfer (LO) discussions with global pharmaceutical companies and investment institutions. BIO USA is the world’s largest bio-business event, attracting approximately 20,000 participants from pharmaceutical and biotech companies and investment institutions worldwide. It serves as a premier partnering platform where discussions on technology transfer, joint development, and strategic investments take place actively.
At this event, Curacle plans to hold discussions on global commercialization based on the Phase 2b clinical trial results for 'CU01,' a treatment for diabetic nephropathy, which were recently presented at the American Diabetes Association (ADA 2026) conference. The company explained that CU01 has demonstrated the ability to further reduce proteinuria (uACR) by up to 35.2% in patients already taking standard therapies, while also maintaining stable renal function indicators (eGFR), which has attracted interest from global pharmaceutical companies.
The oral retinal disease treatment 'Rivastret (CU06)' is also a key target for partnering. CU06 was the first oral retinal disease treatment to demonstrate visual acuity improvement and safety in a Phase 2a clinical trial for diabetic macular edema, and the company is currently preparing for a follow-up Phase 2b trial.
The companies are also pursuing global business development for the next-generation antibody drugs 'MT-201' and 'MT-202,' which they are jointly developing. MT-201 is a next-generation anti-thrombotic antibody candidate designed to reduce bleeding side effects, while MT-202 is a bispecific antibody combining thrombus inhibition and vascular stabilization functions, currently being developed for indications such as ischemic stroke.
The industry is watching to see if Curacle and Maptics can achieve further success based on the global network they established at last year’s BIO USA. At that time, the two companies built cooperative relationships with global investors during the establishment of Memento Medicines, the partner company for MT-103, and subsequently secured a technology transfer agreement worth a total of $1.07775 billion (approximately 1.56 trillion won) in just about 11 months.
A company official stated, “The MT-103 technology transfer was an achievement born from the combination of excellent R&D results, an understanding of the global market, and commercial capabilities.” The official added, “We believe our major pipelines currently in development are highly competitive in the global market as well, since they are being developed with consideration for not only scientific differentiation but also market potential and commercialization feasibility. We will do our best to continue various discussions at this year’s BIO USA to generate follow-up commercialization results.”
