[Edaily Reporter KIM JI-WAN ] CUREXO, INC.(060280)is partnering with SOS LAB Co., Ltd., a company specializing in LiDAR solutions, to jointly develop spatial intelligence solutions for medical robots.

CUREXO, INC. and SOS LAB Co., Ltd. announced on the 26th that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to develop spatial intelligence technology applicable to medical robots and surgical environments.

This agreement was initiated to apply spatial intelligence technology—which has been gaining attention alongside the recent proliferation of physical AI—to the field of medical robots. Spatial intelligence is a technology in which AI perceives the surrounding environment in three dimensions and understands the positions and relationships of spaces and objects to support a robot’s decision-making and movements. In particular, LiDAR is used as a core sensor in the fields of autonomous driving and robotics because it can render the surrounding environment as precise 3D data.

The two companies plan to combine SOS LAB Co., Ltd.’s LiDAR and multimodal sensor technologies with CUREXO, INC.’s capabilities in medical robot development, operation, and testing environments to develop spatial recognition technology optimized for medical settings and validate its performance in real-world robotic environments.

Key areas of collaboration include: △ the application of LiDAR and camera fusion sensor technology to medical robots; △ the demonstration and validation of sensor systems in medical robot operating environments; and △ joint research and development of digital twin technology based on 3D spatial data.

Based on its expertise in robot operation environments within medical settings, CUREXO, INC. will drive technology validation and solution refinement while taking into account the safety and precision required in medical environments. SOS LAB Co., Ltd. will be responsible for developing LiDAR and multimodal sensor systems, as well as spatial and object recognition algorithms.

In particular, the two companies plan to examine the feasibility of spatial recognition technology through demonstrations that take actual medical robot operating conditions into account, and to further develop it into technology capable of supporting the recognition of the surrounding environment as well as autonomous decision-making and movement by future medical robots.

Starting with this agreement, the two companies plan to gradually define specific joint R&D projects and actively publicize their developed technologies and collaboration achievements through joint participation in major domestic and international exhibitions, such as RoboWorld.
