Contech Wins Additional Contract for Ground Station Construction Project from a Kazakhstani Research Institute

Secured an Additional Order from the Same Client for the First Time in Six Months

[Edaily Reporter Kang Min-gu] #Contex secured an additional contract for a satellite ground station construction project from a Kazakhstani government-funded research institute at the “International Space Summit (ISS) 2026” held on the 16th.

This contract is a follow-up to the first project signed late last year. The company has successfully secured an additional order from the same client within just six months. This is particularly significant as it marks the first time a South Korean private space company has secured consecutive contracts with a foreign government agency.

Kazakhstan is regarded as a major hub for the Central Asian space industry, anchored by the Baikonur Cosmodrome. The country has recently been actively fostering its space industry through independent satellite operations and expanded global cooperation.

Contec previously signed a contract in 2024 with Ghalam LLP, Kazakhstan’s state-owned space company, for the design and development of optical payloads for agriculture, forestry, and environmental observation satellites, as well as a satellite image preprocessing system, bringing the total number of projects it will undertake in Kazakhstan to three.

A Contact official stated, “This contract win is a result of our technical capabilities and project execution skills being recognized in overseas markets,” adding, “We plan to expand our business with a focus on emerging markets, including Central Asia.”
