[Edaily Reporter KIM EUN KYOUNG ] HJ SHIPBUILDING & CONSTRUCTION’s Construction Division is maintaining its presence in the public civil engineering market after winning a 210 billion won contract for the construction of the Jecheon–Yeongwol Expressway.
HJ SHIPBUILDING & CONSTRUCTION announced on the 18th that it had been selected as the winning bidder for “Section 3 of the Jecheon–Yeongwol Expressway Construction Project,” commissioned by the Korea Expressway Corporation. It includes the construction of five bridges, one tunnel, and drainage structures, with a total project cost of 212.6 billion won (excluding VAT). The construction period is 84 months from the start date.
Twenty-five domestic construction companies competed in this bidding process, which was conducted under the Comprehensive Evaluation and Bidding System. HJ SHIPBUILDING & CONSTRUCTION participated as the lead contractor, holding a 70% stake, and successfully secured the contract by forming a consortium with Shinsung Construction (10%), Wooil Construction (10%), and Cheongin Construction (10%).
HJ SHIPBUILDING & CONSTRUCTION has accumulated experience in highway construction by participating in major national transportation network projects, including the East Coast Expressway, the Donghongcheon–Yangyang Expressway, the Samcheok–Donghae Expressway, and the Yeoju–Yangpyeong Expressway.
Recently, the company has demonstrated its competitiveness in the bidding for “Section 4 of the Second Gyeongchun National Highway (Namyangju–Chuncheon),” a major national project connecting Gyeonggi and Gangwon provinces, and is actively expanding its order intake in the public civil engineering sector.
