[Edaily Reporter Lee So-hyun] #KT is unveiling a field-based AI Transformation (AX) strategy targeting companies in the Busan, Ulsan, and South Gyeongsang (Busan-Ulsan-South Gyeongsang) region, where the marine, port, and manufacturing industries are concentrated.

KT announced that it will share AX implementation strategies and case studies with corporate customers based in the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam region at “Busan Cloud Day 2026,” taking place on the 18th at BEXCO in Busan.
Busan Cloud Day 2026 is an event co-hosted by KT and the Busan Information Industry Promotion Agency. The Busan Information Industry Promotion Agency is an organization under the Busan Metropolitan City government tasked with fostering the ICT and cloud industries; it is responsible for building the regional cloud ecosystem, implementing policies to support AX transformation, and coordinating corporate support programs.
KT is focusing on the fact that the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam region, including Busan, is home to a high concentration of key industries such as marine, port, and logistics; shipbuilding; automotive; heavy industry; and large-scale industrial complexes.
In the maritime and port sectors, there is a need for data-driven operational management and the advancement of industrial safety systems. In shipbuilding and heavy industry hubs such as Ulsan, Geoje, and Pohang, demand is growing for the application of AX in large-scale production sites. As local manufacturing companies also embark on business innovation based on cloud and AI, the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam region is emerging as a key hub for the expansion of AX.
KT has established key data centers in the region—including the Songjeong Global Hub Center, the Gimhae Global Data Center, and the PPP Daegu Center—along with infrastructure for submarine cable landing stations. It also ensures global connectivity and stability through numerous submarine cables linking Asia and North America.
KT explained that as real-time traffic—including generative AI services, online collaboration tools, and streaming—increases, submarine cables and data centers are emerging as core infrastructure in the AI era.
The Songjeong Global Hub Center is adjacent to the KT Busan International Telecommunications Center, the largest landing station in South Korea. It is structured to connect directly to overseas data centers from Busan without any intermediate stops, allowing for flexible selection of international traffic routes.
KT stated that it has established an operational system capable of ensuring service continuity even during disasters, based on a dual-site infrastructure linking the Busan landing station and data centers in the Seoul metropolitan area.
KT provides industry-specific AX solutions based on partnerships with global AI and data specialists such as Microsoft, Palantir, and Databricks. Through specialized B2B consulting organizations in each region, the company supports the entire process, from consulting to implementation and operation.

At this event, KT will present case studies on improving operational efficiency, innovating customer experiences, and enhancing on-site safety management through AI and cloud technologies. First, the company will announce a plan to comprehensively support customers’ cloud-related needs—from consulting to enhanced security—through its cloud service, “Cloudplex.”
Next, it will introduce an AI agent-based business innovation framework. KT plans to emphasize that it provides integrated services covering the entire process—from infrastructure and models to platforms, AI tools, and services—required for agent deployment.
It will also unveil its “Agentic AICC” strategy for customer experience innovation. The company plans to present an AICC roadmap designed to create added value through AI-based customer service innovation. Additionally, it will introduce its Industrial Safety AX service, which enables the proactive prevention and management of safety incidents and major accidents that may occur in industrial settings.
KT is also expanding its AX collaboration with local universities. It currently provides KREN educational computer network services to Busan National University of Education, Dong-A University, Pukyong National University, and Korea Maritime and Ocean University, among others. Earlier this year, it operated a practical AI talent development training program for working professionals in collaboration with Dong-A University.
Based on the interests of local companies identified at this event, KT plans to collaborate with local public institutions and businesses to expand the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam AX ecosystem.
Kim Tae-yeol, President of the Busan Information Industry Promotion Agency, stated, “The maritime, port, and manufacturing sectors are the core pillars of the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam region’s industry, and the adoption of field-tailored AX technologies is essential to maintaining global competitiveness.” He added, “We will strengthen cooperation with private companies and relevant organizations to actively support the AX transformation and performance creation of companies in the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam region.”
Seong Won-je, Head of KT’s Eastern Regional Corporate Customer Division, remarked, “Busan holds significant importance not only as a key gateway for the expansion of global AI services but also as an infrastructure hub where data originates.” He added, “We will actively support companies in the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam region in securing AX competitiveness by leveraging KT’s infrastructure and solution expertise.”
