LG Corp. Formalizes AI Alliance with NVIDIA… Over 30 Executives in Attendance

Visited NVIDIA Headquarters on the 22nd… Discussed Collaboration on Physical AI and Robotics LGELECTRONICS, LG CNS, LG Innotek, and Others Form Large-Scale Working Group Follow-up Talks Between Koo Kwang-mo and Jensen Huang Get Underway in Earnest Two Weeks After Their Meeting

[Edaily Reporter JAEMIN SONG ] LG Corp. is sending key executives and staff to the U.S. to engage in follow-up discussions aimed at expanding its artificial intelligence (AI) collaboration with NVIDIA. This move comes after a meeting earlier this month between LG Corp. Chairman Koo Kwang-mo and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, and is intended to flesh out a roadmap for cooperation between the two companies.

According to industry sources on the 21st, executives from major LG Corp. affiliates are scheduled to visit NVIDIA’s headquarters in Santa Clara, California, on the 22nd (local time) to discuss collaboration plans, with a focus on physical AI and robotics.

Key executives attending the meeting include Hyun Shin-kyun, President of LG CNS; Jeong Su-heon, CEO (Executive Vice President) of LG Science Park; Kim Byung-hoon, Chief Technology Officer (CTO, Executive Vice President) of LGELECTRONICS; Lee Hyun-wook, Head of the HS Research Center (Executive Vice President) at LGELECTRONICS; and Min Jun, CTO (Senior Vice President) of LG Innotek. Including working-level staff from LGELECTRONICS, LG Innotek, LG CNS, and LG AI Research, the total number of attendees is expected to be around 30.

The two companies plan to review the feasibility of actual commercialization and identify priority projects through technical sessions and discussions on business-specific collaboration initiatives. In particular, it is reported that they will discuss ways to expand the scope of AI collaboration based on the “One LG Corp.” strategy, which consolidates the group’s capabilities.

This visit to the U.S. is a follow-up meeting taking place approximately two weeks after the meeting between Chairman Koo and CEO Hwang held on the 8th at the LG Corp. Twin Towers in Yeouido, Seoul. At that time, both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation across the entire AI ecosystem, including physical AI, AI infrastructure, and future mobility. It is also reported that they discussed plans for the joint development of reference (development standard) robots.

LG Corp.’s strategy is to expand its next-generation AI business by combining NVIDIA’s AI platform technology with the group’s capabilities in home appliances, robotics, smart spaces, mobility components, and AI infrastructure.

Business observers note that since large-scale working-level talks were arranged immediately following the CEO meeting, the collaboration between the two companies is rapidly progressing beyond mere technological exchange into the actual business implementation phase.
