At the seminar, SMEC CO.,LTD introduced its ultra-precision machining technologies for quartz and ceramics—which have been proven in the domestic semiconductor components market—along with key project case studies. The company’s strategy is to target the demand for component machining resulting from expanded investment in U.S. semiconductor fabs, leveraging the technical capabilities it has secured through its specialized machining centers and grinding solutions. The company also showcased its next-generation multi-tasking machining center, the “STX 2600,” as a key piece of equipment. The STX 2600 is capable of machining complex-shaped parts with a single setup, a feature that enhances productivity. In addition, SMEC CO.,LTD introduced automated production lines for EV battery components and 5-axis machining solutions for the defense and aerospace sectors. During the roadshow, the company reviewed its North American distributor network and held business meetings with local companies within the global semiconductor and advanced manufacturing supply chains. The company plans to expand into the North American market by pursuing new projects and supply agreements. Kwon Oh-hyuk, CEO of SMEC CO.,LTD, stated, “The U.S. is a market where demand for high-end machine tools is growing rapidly, particularly in the semiconductor, defense, aerospace, and electric vehicle sectors.” He added, “Based on our semiconductor machining technology, which has been proven in Korea, and the competitiveness of our equipment—such as the STX 2600—we will expand our presence in the North American market.”
