[Edaily Reporter Hyera Lee ] Daehan Optical Communications ( TAIHAN Fiberoptics Co.,LTD(010170)) announced on the 22nd that its order backlog for fiber-optic cables, secured through its U.S. subsidiaries “TFOA” (TAIHAN FIBEROPTICS AMERICA INC) and “Incap America LLC,” has surpassed $73.54 million (approximately 110.3 billion won). The U.S. optical cable market is experiencing a severe supply shortage due to a surge in investment in AI data centers. As the U.S. government fully launches the “Broadband Expansion and Access to Digital (BEAD) Program”—a $42.5 billion (approximately 55 trillion won) project to build high-speed internet networks as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA)—the procurement crisis for telecommunications infrastructure materials is intensifying. In particular, the “BABA regulations,” which mandate the use of U.S.-made materials for all components, are being strictly enforced. TAIHAN Fiberoptics Co.,LTD has proactively established a local production base that complies with the BABA regulations through its acquisition of Incap America. Building on this foundation, the company plans to actively participate in the 55 trillion won BEAD project. TAIHAN Fiberoptics Co.,LTD recently strengthened its local network by recruiting executive-level experts from the North American utility industry. Centered on this team, the company is targeting major U.S. telecommunications carriers and large power utilities. Moving forward, the company plans to accelerate its entry into the OSP (Outside Plant) business—which involves telecommunications infrastructure field installations—and secure additional contracts. A TAIHAN Fiberoptics Co.,LTD official stated, “By expanding our sales activities in the U.S. centered on our local production base and network of experts, we will achieve entry into the markets of major telecommunications carriers and large electric utilities, as well as revenue growth.”
