SK hynix Reports Voluntary Turnover Rate of 0.5%… New Hiring to Triple
Starting Salary for New Hires at 4.5 Million Won per Month… 215% of the Minimum Wage

[Edaily Reporter JAEMIN SONG ] SK hynix’s voluntary turnover rate at its domestic facilities last year was found to be less than 1%. Based on improved performance driven by growth in the artificial intelligence (AI) memory market, the company also expanded its hiring and compensation programs.

(Photo = Yonhap News) According to the 2026 Sustainability Report published by SK hynix on the 25th, the voluntary turnover rate at its domestic facilities last year stood at 0.5%. This is 0.4 percentage points lower than the previous year (0.9%). The involuntary turnover rate was 0.4%, and the overall turnover rate was recorded at 0.9%. By age group, the voluntary turnover rate was lowest among employees aged 30–49, at 0.4%.
The number of new hires last year reached 3,201, a 3.4-fold increase from the previous year (942). This is interpreted as reflecting the demand for labor resulting from expanded production capacity, such as the launch of the first cleanroom at the Cheongju M15X facility in October of last year. The average tenure also increased slightly to 13.4 years, up from 13.3 years the previous year.
The starting salary for new hires (based on bachelor’s degree holders in technical and administrative roles) was recorded at 4,505,000 won per month. This amounts to 215% of the minimum wage based on the contracted annual salary. The number of employees utilizing flexible work arrangements rose to 20,940, an increase from the previous year.
Driven by expanded investment in AI infrastructure, the scale of social value (SV) creation also increased significantly. Last year, the social value created by SK hynix amounted to 20.3247 trillion won, a 69.4% increase from the previous year. Of this, indirect economic contributions—including employment, dividends, and tax payments—totaled 20.3561 trillion won, a 69.8% increase. In particular, tax payments reached 9.5329 trillion won, a 168.2% increase compared to the previous year.
On the other hand, due to increased production volume, the negative environmental impact expanded compared to the previous year (-8097억 원), totaling -9728억 원. Social performance—including corporate social responsibility and shared growth initiatives—reached 9414억 원, a 15.1% increase from the previous year (8177억 원).
Last year, the proportion of female executives remained unchanged from the previous year at 3.4%, while the proportion of female team leaders rose by 0.3 percentage points to 6.8%. The number of male executives and employees who took spousal maternity leave reached 1,091, an increase of 297 from the previous year.
Meanwhile, SK Innovation announced today that it would transfer a 50% stake (approximately 24.9 billion won) in an A319 aircraft (the second aircraft) to SK hynix to streamline the operation of business aircraft among affiliated companies. This move is interpreted as reflecting the increased use of SK hynix’s private jet due to the expansion of overseas operations, particularly in the United States.
