From Airplanes to Cruise Ships… Comic Action on a Grander Scale
[Edaily Starin YUN GI BACK Reporter] Uhm Jung-hwa’s signature comic action is back. “Okay Madam 2,” the sequel to “Okay Madam,” which was a box office hit in the summer of 2020, has confirmed its release date for August 12 and unveiled its launch poster and trailer. Poster for the movie “Okay Madam 2.” (Photo courtesy of CJ Pictures) “Okay Madam 2” is a comedy-action film about Mi-young (Um Jung-hwa), a former legendary agent, and her family who get caught up in a kidnapping incident while on a luxury cruise. While the first film was set on an airplane, this installment takes place on a cruise ship on the vast ocean, promising an even larger scale and more intense action. The newly released launch poster depicts Mi-young—who had been living an ordinary life as the owner of a twisted doughnut shop—once again finding herself at the center of the action. Led by Um Jung-hwa, whose presence is truly commanding, the cast reunites to include Park Sung-woong as her husband Seok-hwan, Lee Sang-yoon as her former colleague Cheol-seung, and Bae Jeong-nam as Hyun-min, the groom at the cruise wedding. Joining them are new cast members Park Jin-joo as Seon-ah, the cruise ship’s CEO; Ryu-woon as Ji-hoon, a magician; and Choi Soo-young as Anya, the leader of a criminal organization, completing an even richer cast lineup. The trailer, released alongside the stills, opens with a scene from the previous film in which Mi-young subdues an airplane hijacker, signaling that the sequel’s setting has shifted to a cruise ship. Accompanied by the tagline “This time, it’s a cruise ship,” a massive cruise ship appears on screen, and the trailer quickly cuts to Mi-young dashing across the deck, followed by shootouts, explosions, and high-altitude stunts—promising thrilling visuals. The comedic chemistry remains as strong as ever. When Seon-ah, the cruise ship’s representative, asks, “Who kidnapped you and brought you here?” the bound Seok-hwan retorts, “Kidnapped?”—a moment that captures the film’s signature lighthearted atmosphere. Adding to the tension, the villain Anya declares, “Shall we begin?” foreshadowing a plot that seamlessly blends action and comedy. “Okay Madam 2” features the return of the original cast—Um Jung-hwa, Park Sung-woong, Lee Sang-yoon, and Bae Jeong-nam—along with new additions Park Jin-ju, Ryu Woon, and Choi Soo-young. With an even larger scale and a blend of comedy and action, the film is set to take the box office by storm this summer.
