In its broadcast on the 30th, JTBC’s “Case Squad” covered the story of Ms. B, a woman in her 60s who claims she was the victim of an investment scam perpetrated by Ms. A, Jang Yoon-jung’s mother.
Ms. B claimed that Ms. A deceived her by claiming to be in contact with Jang Yoon-jung and promising she could earn a large sum of money by investing in TV Chosun’s “Mr. Trot.” She alleged that she handed over 30 million won but has not received a refund.
“Case Squad” reported that Ms. B’s daughter filed a criminal complaint against Ms. A on charges of fraud last April, and that there is another victim who claims to have been defrauded using a similar scheme.
Jang Yoon-jung’s representatives issued a statement through “Case Squad,” saying, “Jang Yoon-jung has never communicated directly with her mother,” and added, “Although her mother attempted to contact her several times through acquaintances, Jang Yoon-jung did not respond.”
Meanwhile, Jang Yoon-jung revealed in 2013 that her mother, Ms. A, and her younger brother had squandered all the money she had earned from her singing career and left her with 1 billion won in debt. Following a legal battle, she subsequently announced that she had severed ties with her mother.
