KIA CORPORATION Sets All-Time High with 1,630,988 Units Sold in First Half… Electric Vehicles Also Set New Record

Global Sales in June Reach 295,720 Units, Up 9.5% Year-Over-Year Sportage Tops Global Sales; Domestic EV Sales Also Reach All-Time High

[Edaily Reporter LEE YUNHWA ] KIA CORPORATION(000270)set a new all-time record for first-half sales by selling 1.63 million vehicles in global markets this year. Driven by strong sales of electric and hybrid vehicles, domestic electric vehicle sales also reached an all-time high for the first half of the year.

KIA CORPORATION announced on the 1st that it sold a total of 295,720 vehicles in the global market in June 2026, including 54,508 units domestically, 240,259 units overseas, and 953 specialty vehicles. This represents a 9.5% increase compared to the same period last year. Domestic sales rose by 18.5%, while overseas sales increased by 7.6%.

In the global market, the Sportage was the best-selling model with 54,058 units sold, followed by the Seltos (35,007 units) and the K4 (22,373 units).

In the domestic market, the Sorento topped the monthly sales charts with 8,561 units sold. A total of 37,131 RVs were sold, including the Sorento, Seltos (6,685 units), Carnival (6,267 units), and Sportage (6,176 units). A total of 12,367 passenger cars were sold, including the Ray (4,159 units), K5 (3,150 units), and K8 (1,981 units), while a total of 5,010 commercial vehicles were sold, including the Bongo III (2,531 units) and PV5 (2,349 units).

In overseas markets, the Sportage was the best-selling model with 47,882 units sold, followed by the Seltos (28,322 units) and the K4 (22,373 units). A total of 953 specialty vehicles were sold, including 473 domestically and 480 overseas.

KIA CORPORATION sold a total of 1,630,988 vehicles in the first half of this year—including 295,779 domestically, 1,332,473 overseas, and 2,736 specialty vehicles—setting a record for the highest first-half sales in the company’s history since it began selling cars in 1962. This performance surpassed the previous record of 1,587,536 units set in the first half of last year.

Domestic electric vehicle sales also set a new record. KIA CORPORATION sold 72,078 electric vehicles in the domestic market during the first half of this year, marking its highest-ever first-half sales figure. This represents a 151.1% increase compared to the first half of last year (28,706 units) and has already surpassed last year’s annual sales total of 60,820 units. By model, the EV3 was the top seller with 18,431 units, followed by the EV5 (15,965 units) and the PV5 (15,000 units).

A KIA CORPORATION spokesperson stated, “We achieved our highest-ever first-half sales thanks to strong sales of electric and hybrid models both domestically and internationally,” adding, “In the second half, we plan to continue expanding sales through region-specific strategies centered on our full lineup of electric vehicles and hybrid SUV models.”
