Actor Namgoong Min made these remarks while introducing the new KBS 2TV Saturday-Sunday miniseries *The Perfection of Marriage*, in which he stars, at a production press conference held at 2:00 p.m. on the 1st at The Saint Grand Ballroom in Guro-gu, Seoul.
“The Perfection of Marriage” is a crime thriller centered on Kang Tae-ju (played by Namgoong Min), a neurosurgeon who engages in an extreme battle with a criminal to rescue his wife, who was kidnapped just before their divorce.
Namgoong Min said on that day, “Kang Tae-ju is a character who comes face-to-face with a ruthless criminal without knowing the reason behind his wife’s kidnapping,” adding, “I hope viewers will follow Kang Tae-ju’s story closely.”
This marks Namgoong Min’s first lead role in a KBS 2TV drama in about seven years, following his appearance in the Wednesday-Thursday miniseries “Doctor Prisoner,” which concluded in 2019 with a peak viewership rating of 15.8%.
He said, “I’ve received a lot of love from viewers through various KBS productions over the years. I’m confident this project will also achieve great results.”
The lead cast of this drama includes Namgoong Min, Kim Dae-myung, Lee Seol, and Lee Sang-hee.
Lee Seol plays Go Se-yoon, the chairwoman of Our Together Hospital and the wife of Kang Tae-ju. “I’m playing a character who sparks curiosity after being kidnapped very early in the series,” she said. “I hope viewers will enjoy watching it while wondering, ‘Why did things turn out that way?’”
She previously worked alongside Namgoong Min—who is also signed to her agency, 935 Entertainment—in the SBS Friday-Saturday drama *Our Movie*, which wrapped up last July.
Lee Seol said, “It felt comfortable to work on the same project back-to-back, and I was grateful to witness the passion of a senior actor who loves acting right up close.” Namgoong Min also said, “Since we didn’t have to go through the process of getting to know each other, I was able to act comfortably.”

Kim Dae-myung appears in the drama as No Man-hee, the director of a computer academy who kidnaps Go Se-yoon. He said, “Viewers will find it entertaining if they focus on why No Man-hee carried out the kidnapping,” adding, “This is a drama that will provide a refreshing escape from the sweltering heat. It’s set to be the most entertaining show of this summer.”
Lee Sang-hee stars as Kim Kyung-ae, a mysterious woman who appears before Go Se-yoon when he finds himself in trouble. Introducing the show, she said, “It’s a refreshing drama that piques curiosity about each character’s backstory and their relationships,” adding, “Since I don’t have much experience with this genre, I acted while seeking advice from those around me.”
“The Perfection of Marriage” marks the return of KBS 2TV’s Saturday-Sunday miniseries, which has been on hiatus since “My Beloved Thief” wrapped up last February. Planned as a 12-episode series, the drama premieres on the 4th at 9:20 p.m. It is directed by Kim Jung-hyun, known for “Hyper Knife” and “Day and Night.”
Regarding the competition with the SBS Friday-Saturday drama “Manager Kim,” which recently hit a 15% viewership rating after just two episodes, Namgoong Min laughed and said, “My representative KBS drama is ‘Manager Kim,’ but it turns out So Ji-sub’s drama is ‘Manager Kim.’ It felt a little bittersweet to realize that So Ji-sub is more prominent than I am.”
He continued, “I tuned in to watch ‘Director Kim’ because I heard it was doing well. The premise is good and quite fresh,” adding, “‘The Perfection of Marriage’ is a bit more grounded in reality and has more depth than ‘Director Kim.’”
