"I'm Single" Season 32's Sang-cheol: "Top 5% Salary" Leads to Endless Conversation… Ok-soon Starts Drinking in Broad Daylight

Broadcast every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.

[Edaily Starin Gim Ga Yeong Reporter] The 32nd season of “I’m Single” saw new developments in relationships through “Random Dates.” Amid this, Ok-soon from the 32nd season grew weary of Sang-cheol’s endless serious conversations.
The episode of SBS Plus and ENA’s “I’m Single” Season 32, which aired on the 1st, featured the divorced men and women on their random dates.
Gwang-su was the first to make a move that morning. He went to the women’s dormitory to ask Ok-soon out. Ok-soon, who came out in her pajamas, noticed the mole on Gwang-su’s nose and laughed, saying, “I have a mole on my nose, too. We’re the ‘nose mole couple.’” While the two were having a cheerful conversation, Young-sook and Soon-ja, who were doing their makeup side by side, both named Young-sik as their top choice, realizing they were “rivals.” Amid this, Young-sik called Sun-ja out. Referring to Sun-ja and Young-sook, Young-sik said, “Until yesterday, my feelings were ‘50-50,’” and revealed that his feelings for Sun-ja had grown stronger, adding, “When I woke up this morning, I suddenly thought of my son—and then I thought of you.” However, he asked for her understanding, saying, “I definitely want to talk to Young-sook as well,” and “I’ll sort out my feelings today and speak honestly.” Sun-ja responded, “That seems like the right thing to do,” and took a cool-headed approach, saying, “If his feelings change, there’s nothing we can do about it.” After returning to the women’s dorm, Sun-ja shared the details of her conversation with Young-sik with Young-sook. Young-sook expressed her fondness for Young-sik, saying, “He’s so gentle. I like that he’s so straightforward.”
Young-soo asked Young-sook for a conversation. He complimented her, saying, “The more we talk, the more I feel your bright and positive energy, and I like that.” Young-sook retorted, “But didn’t you choose Ok-soon yesterday?” making Young-soo burst out laughing. Shortly after, Young-sook said in an interview, “He was much calmer than I expected and someone I could have a serious conversation with,” and regarding the fact that he was “ten years older,” she reacted positively, saying, “I guess I’ll just have to get my gray hair dyed later?” Later, when Young-sik ran into Young-sook, he naturally suggested they go for a walk and the two had a conversation alone. Young-sik revealed, “I told Sun-ja earlier that after today’s date, I’ll clearly convey my feelings to one of the two of us.” In response, Young-sook asked, “What’s the percentage breakdown between the two of you?” Young-sik replied specifically, “Until yesterday, it was ‘50:50,’ but now it’s about ‘Sun-ja 55, Young-sook 45.’” Hearing this, Young-sook said, “People’s feelings can change, and I appreciate you being honest with me.”
Sang-cheol, who is competing with Gwang-su for Ok-soon’s affections, was also busy from early morning. As soon as Gwang-su and Ok-soon finished their brief conversation, he immediately took Ok-soon aside for a deeper talk. He brought up practical topics such as the long-distance relationship, raising children after marriage, and the couple’s combined income, and sought a definitive answer from Ok-soon. In particular, Sang-cheol raised the question of whether he would move to Seoul to set up a household after marriage or if Ok-soon would move to the provinces. He even emphasized to Ok-soon that his salary placed him in the top 5–10% among his peers. Ok-soon replied cautiously, “I don’t think this is the right time to discuss this,” adding, “I can’t give you a definite answer.” In an interview shortly afterward, Ok-soon confided, “Mr. Gwang-soo ended the conversation quickly, probably because he was worried I might be tired, but Mr. Sang-cheol kept bringing up practical matters. I could feel the difference in their consideration.”
Sang-cheol, who had no way of knowing Ok-soon’s true feelings, returned to the men’s dorm and tried to gauge Gwang-soo’s thoughts. He asked Young-cheol and Gwang-soo, who were sitting next to him, “You haven’t had any major changes of heart, have you?” While Gwang-soo listened to Young-cheol’s answer, he didn’t actually speak up about himself. However, Sang-cheol completely misunderstood this and said in an interview, “I didn’t get an answer to my question from Gwang-soo. I don’t know if it’s because I bothered him, but it was pretty obvious,” he said with a bitter smile. Meanwhile, Ok-soon went back to the dorm and enjoyed a beer in broad daylight to cool off. “I guess I needed some carbonation. It settles my stomach,” she said, drawing laughter.
Amid these tangled emotions, the “Random Date” segment began. The 32nd season participants selected and wore jackets labeled with terms of endearment between lovers—such as “wife,” “honey,” “darling,” “madam,” “princess,” and “sweetie”—and proceeded to the matching round. First, Jeong-hee was paired with Gwang-su; Hyun-sook with Young-cheol; Young-ja with Young-su; Sun-ja with Young-ho; and Jeong-sook with Kyung-su. “Popular girl” Ok-soon wanted to go on a date with Kyung-su rather than Gwang-su or Sang-cheol, but as if by a prank from the “God of Love,” she ended up paired with Sang-cheol. In an interview, Ok-soon sighed, “I guess today is It must be Sang-cheol’s day,” she said with a sigh. Finally, Young-sook was matched with Young-sik as if by fate, but Young-sik was flustered because he couldn’t properly respond to Young-sook’s flirtatious charm—she kept calling him “Cute.” Regarding this, he confided to the other divorced men, “I think Young-sook called me that more than twenty times in ten minutes,” adding, “It feels a bit draining?” Gwang-soo advised, “Can’t you just tone it down a bit?” But Young-sik looked flustered, saying, “She’s so hyped up that I feel bad even telling her to ‘calm down.’”
Ok-soon also tried her best to liven up the mood while on a “random date” with Sang-cheol. Ok-soon laughed and said, “Honey, get the energy up,” and Sang-cheol followed up with a light-hearted joke and even played the kazoo. However, Sang-cheol brought up Gwang-soo, revealing his competitive side, prompting Ok-soon to cut the conversation short by saying, “I’m not on your (Sang-cheol’s) side, nor am I on Gwang-soo’s side.” As the atmosphere turned icy, the released preview built tension by showing Young-soo declaring a “conditional move” to Young-sook—“If I’m not Ok-soon’s second choice, I’ll go straight for you, Young-sook”—while Sang-cheol vented his hurt feelings to Gwang-soo, saying, “There were a few things that hurt my feelings.”
“I Am Single” is a dating show where single men and women who desperately want to get married gather to struggle to find love. The “divorced singles” special episodes—Seasons 10, 16, 22, and 28—became major talking points. Attention is now focused on whether Season 32 will continue this trend.
