[Edaily Starin Gim Ga Yeong Reporter] It has been reported that Lee Sang-yeop, the son of comedian couple Park Mi-sun and Lee Bong-won, has changed his surname and is now active under the name Choi Sang-yeop.
On the 30th of last month, Park Mi-sun appeared in the video “New Woman” on the YouTube channel “Rolling Thunder” and opened up about her son, Choi Chang-yeop. Jo Hye-ryeon told Park Mi-sun, “I heard your son changed his last name and is working as an actor.” She went on to say that she met Park Mi-sun’s son at a theater audition two years ago, adding, “I found out later that he was your son. I was surprised that he’d changed his last name. He’s so cute, handsome, and a great actor.” She continued, “Lee Bong-won came to see the performance but didn’t recognize my son. He asked, ‘Where’s Sang-yeop?’ That’s how well he acts.” Park Mi-sun revealed, “You can’t control your children. I hoped he wouldn’t pursue acting, but that didn’t work out.” She continued, “When my son was young, his dream was to be a comedian, so we taught him how to be funny. But one day, he suddenly said he wouldn’t be a comedian and would become an actor instead. He’s doing it all on his own—even changing his name—without any help from us.” Choi Sang-yeop is signed to Cube Entertainment, the same agency as his mother, Park Mi-sun. After making his debut in March 2023 with the play “The Republic of Korea Theater Festival: The Story of Baeso-goji,” he has continued his acting career through productions such as “Body Change” and “The Trial of Hamlet.”
